The usual virological suspects are very angry about that endonuclease fingerprint paper, and they’re venting their fury at reporters for The Telegraph:
Prof Kristian Andersen, evolutionary biologist and professor in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at the Scripps Research Institute, called the work “nothing more than poppycock dressed up as science”.
“In plain language – this is uninformed nonsense and it’s simply not worth engaging with this bullshit,” Prof Anderson said.
The academic also said the paper is “so deeply flawed that it wouldn’t pass kindergarten molecular biology”.
Of course, “engaging with this bullshit” is precisely what Andersen, an early and tireless advocate of zoonotic origins, has been doing on Twitter lately. That’s how not worried about this he is.
