Corona as Ideology

After a few days away, it can take some work to get back into the rhythm of regular posting.

First, I thought I’d make fun of this Guardian article, warning about the grave risk even highly trained endurance athletes face from Long Covid. The focus is a 52 year-old “marathoner” who is suffering all manner of terrible chronic symptoms … and who has never actually tested positive for SARS-2 infection.

Then I thought maybe I’d address this Nature piece, which the profoundly stupid Eric Topol believes “lend[s] further support for the need for vaccination post-Covid.” In fact, it just shows that the vaccinated have a more comprehensive immune response against spike, while the recovered have immune response to all virus proteins. It’s the latest in a line of studies to pull this trick and argue disingenuously for the superiority of vaccinated immunity.

The steady, endless drip of Corona stupidity though is in itself exasperating and increasingly hard to endure. Clearly, none of the vaccinators and precious few of the Long Covidians are thinking rationally at all. They’ve all succumbed to a new, left-adjacent medical-political ideology, and they will just keep writing stupid stuff like this forever.
