Political parties which do not support the elites are trashed by the state broadcaster and the Prime Minister. Investigations into them are based on trivia whereas substantial, material breaches by them are dismissed with minor financial penalties, if at all.

GB has had non-state media for longer than the USA has existed and there is no movement to get rid of it despite that it implemented gun control 30 years ago.

Actually, I seem to remember that at one time -- back in the 1800s -- Presidents had the authority to fire anyone they wanted upon assuming office. That must have been abolished with the typical arguments about "continuity" and "stability", but considering what we have now, it could not have been all that bad.
