Ortrud Steinlein, Director of LMU Clinic for Human Genetics: “Due to Putin’s violation of international law … we are refusing to treat Russian patients …”
In wartime, battlefield doctors are expected to give medical treatment to the wounded soldiers of the opposing side. We are truly reaping the ill harvest of years of censorship and cancel culture. When people are willing to face no criticism of their ideas for so long, they become more arrogant, brittle and filled with this kind of overwhelming stink of self-righteousness. The need to virtue signal to their perceived peer group is stronger than any innate sense of right and wrong. The problem is that increasingly, the peer group that they believe would appreciate this is an illusion created by enforced conformity of media and social media. They are playing to a choir that is mostly of their own fevered imagination.
Everything I said seems to also apply to the politicians and diplomats managing our Ukraine crisis as well.
Conrad's Heart of Darkness explores it in reverse: what happens if there is no peer group anymore and you lack an internal moral compass. We need a Conrad to explore our current situation: what if your imagined peer group has been continually purged of moderate voices. Perhaps it could be historical fiction of the French Revolution and end with Robespierre, because I think that is where we are headed. Virtue through terror.
Have to read that again in the near future, one of the very few classic books of that period I've read in my life (sorry, not much of a reader ;-) that really left a lasting impression...
I don't think this person has any "innate sense of right and wrong" to overcome. I think she is a psychopath, pure and simple! There's a lot of it about...
Disgusting human being. Like the Russian people have any decision in this. Wow. This is just plain evil. A monster on the loose. Makes me so very sad people have become like this and so very openly.
All the regular people are victims in a war. Those who want war should be put in a boxing ring and fight till the last man. Like gladiators. Would be a good riddance
That is the old concept of having the champions of both sides slug it out and both factions abiding by the outcome. Precisely that was suggested at the dinner table this evening. But I fear that is too romantic for this mechanised and digitized age in which the quest of knowledge, the meaning of life, morality and ethics have been replaced by passivity, shallow entertainment and pc. Did I mention the money grubbing pirates that literally run our systems without regard for others?
Money money money. That is old ABBA song. I suppose if it came to the US we would be lost in advance LOL. Not sure about Russia-Ukraine! I would still bet on Putin.
Sort of related to this deranged persons positions: I was just chatting with a likeminded critical thinker about the phenomenon whereby covid zealots are strangely pivoting into warmongers.
On the surface, it seems like a strange concurrence of policy positions - to argue so stridently that we must sacrifice all our freedoms to (maybe) save even one octogenarian, while simultaneously arguing that Ukrainian freedom is so sacred that we should risk, literally, every life on the planet to protect it.
But of course, those who have been following this evolution carefully will not be surprised. What defines covid zealotry is a sort of hysterical attachment to extreme positions; one which is remarkably resistant to facts or reason.
For me, this Russia-Ukraine thing fits perfectly into the mindset. People I know - invariably the same ones who tripled masked in a bathtub of disinfectant in the corner of their basements - have unironically informed me that it would be better to begin World War Three now than agree to a compromise solution with Putin, involving demilitarisation a la Finland, and some kind of agreed peacekeeping force for the Donbass Region.
I didn't think I would be saying this so soon, but the madness of these people has found a more dangerous ideology to obsess about.
I think the common theme is a desperation to be morally correct, and certain of that correctnes. In the absence of belief in God and religious certainty, they blindly cling to whatever seems to be the lowest hanging branch at the time. That this debased form of morality involves defining oneself by one's "enemies" isn't surprising. Fear and anger tend to thrive in godless environments.
Indeed, without faith, we humans become gods. We believe we can "control" a virus and "stop it." We believe that if we deny ourselves the use of energy that we can "control" the weather. We believe people can change their gender. We set fire to churches (especially in places like France and Canada). We abort babies when we see ourselves as god. In truth, replacing God with ourselves is evidence of our decay and decline.
The thing is..we used to just kind of take it for granted that people like the masked Karens' and the good doctor were pretty much just like us. Now we know not just that they are *not* like us, we know who they are and where they are. We aren't operating in the dark as far as these types are concerned anymore. It's a leap forward to have those blinders removed, to know who we are dealing with right up front.
The lack of any diplomats or leaders expressing even an iota of willingness to even consider Russia's demands for neutrality and demilitarization is deeply disturbing. Are there no realist politicians? If you aren't willing to fight and your side is losing, you either concede -something- or simply watch your allies pointlessly die in a war of attrition. More people will die than have to because the arrogance and pride of the Western backers of Ukraine. They will posture as if they will do something thus preventing realistic negotiations until the war is over and there is nothing left to negotiate.
Yep. and no one seems to ever mention the obvious: no matter Putin or the current 'leaders' the people will be ruled and ruled with some inequality, some unfairness, some harshness, injustice. Will be robbed and mistreated.
Are being robbed and mistreated right now.
For them to lay down their lives in warfare to simply change masters is madness.
It is, as always, a struggle between regimes.
The people should let the regimes fight it out.
Not don uniforms and kill each other.
Ah, yes, the blood boils, the manly spirit flames... 'fight, we must fight the glorious fight' for some mythical benefit, some spurious good - fine inspiring words that totally ignore the fact that your noble fight will kill and maim innocent men, women and children.
Putin said get NATO to keep its promises and back off.
The criminals in the USA said ignore him, press on.
Putin should be free to fight those criminals.
Or if I have it wrong, 180 ° , then USA leaders should be free to fight that criminal Putin.
Whichever way you want it.
But the 'theatre of war' should be boardrooms and courts and public opinion and science and data and facts, not men, women and children maiming and killing each other.
The same as the Covid thing the real enemy is not identified. In Covid the real enemy is the govt lies and hysteria generated, total loss of democracy world wide.
Here the real enemy is thinking a conflict between (possible, probable even) potential oppressors is cause for people to attack each other.
Yes. The U.S. political leadership is involved in this war to dispute who should be kingmaker in Ukraine: they or Putin. Every political entity in this conflict is some degree of wrong. Rather than untangle that Gordian knot, we can cut through it and make our focus limiting the suffering for normal people. The best road to that is realistic negotiations. The reality is that Ukraine is extremely unlikely to prevail in a protracted conflict. If the Ukrainian leadership cared about their people, they wouldn't scuttle negotiations by demanding Crimea back!
Exactly the hysterical attachment to extreme positions that leftists exhibit regularly. Resistance to fact and reason is also a trademark of the political left. So unsurprisingly the most extreme Covid zealots were the very same lefties that are now advocating arms deliveries to Ukraine as well as total annihilation in WW3.
A few years ago, some doctor (or nurse?) wrote a post about how it was essential that doctors treat everyone. If Dzhokhar Tsarnaev (that was her example) shows up in your ER, then you treat Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Period. The reason this is so important is because basically everyone goes on someone's nerves, and you want medical professionals to have it drilled into them that they have to treat *everyone*, regardless of how you feel about the person, because otherwise, you or someone you care about may be denied treatment on the basis of - whatever.
Indeed. Over the past year, people have been denied medical treatment based on their decision to refuse experimental gene therapy. How many such cases have there been? Who knows, but there have certainly been a few well publicized ones (generally regarding transplants). What's next? No treatment because you eat too much junk? Or maybe no treatment because you're an annoying organic-head who refuses to eat any junk ever? Or because you are too fat? Or because you do too much exercise and therefore needlessly risk injury? Or because you voted (or are presumed to have voted) for a "wrong" candidate? The list is endless.
As for me: at this point, I'm just utterly disgusted with the entire medical profession. Yes, there are exceptions. On the whole though - I'm disgusted.
Oh absolutely, but the doctor or other professional is supposed to know more than me, act in good faith in my best interest and keep me fully informed.
Too clarify, since I wrote the inital post right before dinner (casserole made from left-over fillet of ox, seasoned with juniper and stewed ever so slowly with onions, carrots and a teensy sliver of horseradish, served with mealy potatoes and pickled beetroots with home-made kvass for drink):
As this puts me in a disadvanteged position with regards to knowledge and negotiating power, not to mention cost monetary or otherwise, such a question serves to redress the balance by making the other person think twice, and often provokes a 'tell' as to whether they are trustworthy or not.
The untrustworthy lash out, feel attacked and project insecurity: those with personal moral fortitude and integrity thinks for a bit before continuing the discussion, asking me if I am thinking about any particular risk or if I have previous experiences which have soured me.
And they want us to believe that all doctors are all knowing Gods. She is one of the reasons the medical profession is now below politicians, lawyers and the media in the trust factor department.
These are the same people that promote the healthcare for all and free healthcare for illegals ... it's just that THEY are the ONLY authority to decide who gets what (like the suggestion to let unvaccinated die)
I don't know the name but they are two principles of the communists (and any other tyrants) "I know better what's good for you" and "I can do whatever I want with you"
"I can do whatever I want to you, and you are obligated to thank me for it, because it's for your own good, and if you don't comply and admire me I will hurt you until you love me".
Weakness breeds contempt in us, and that is a nasty dirty feeling we don't like, so we want to punish the one causing it, by hurting them until we stop loathing them for what their meakness is making us feel and do. At the same time, power over someone is exhilarating and intoxicating - it's habit forming stronger than haschish or heroin. So we will again and again seek to create this tangled mess of self-loathing, power tripping, and sadistic glee.
The scene in 'Oliver Twist' when the poor child offends by asking 'Please Sir, may I have some more?' is this mindset in distilled essence.
me too. Thought I had a handle on the covid mania, but war mania, and the seamless (seeming) changeover, is a level beyond. Even after sept 11 2001, in US when war mania was rampant, I don't remember this level of pile on idiocy.
I listened to Olaf Scholz last Sunday when he let go of what was left of German independence. He had a historic chance and blew it. He blew because he is just another opportunist carefully watching opinion polls. He is either in someones pocket (not surprizing given investigations into his part in major financial crimes), without any comprehension of what is at stake for Europe (given the lobbies working hard to sway him in their direction you would need to surround yourself with loyal and versed advisors) or a fool. fast not my country any more
You know, over the past two years, it has become apparent in the U.S. that old divisions between perceptions of "left" and "right were being dissolved and reformed along the lines of "authoritarianism countenancing" and "non-authoritarianism countenancing". Many of us who would describe ourselves as the latter have been celebrating that new realized unity of principle trumping left/right divides. This story however tipped me into a distressing reminder of an inverse: Those who wish to impose utilitarian-derived policies based on arguments of a "highest good" which serves "the collective" - are also celebrating this ideological divide shift. They welcome the creation of supporters of authoritarianism who will respond positively to any policies labeled as forwarding the "collective good". People who who will throw civil liberties and rights of the individual under the bus along with any and all hope of resistance to and drag on collectivist impositions they may not appreciate in the future.
It is incredible, and I had a hard time to believe it. I verified it from multiple sources, just to be sure.
But you are right, this behaviour is to be expected. Just a few months ago these kind of doctors discussed with glee how the unvaccinated were surely die, and they will refuse to treat them. And this was echoed by top politicians and the state sponsored mass media.
Corona has shown us how thin this veneer of empathy is, especially for those who claim to be so empathic. And this was just a hyped up flu.
Is there any doubt what these kind of people are capable of if they really get the sanction of the state to eradicate people they perceive as undesirable?
Just as people who consider themselves brilliant often aren't very bright, so people who consider themselves highly compassionate are often petty tyrants.
Yes yes yes. My experience. I spent most of my adulr life in the USA and any patient who dares to ask questions or chooses a natural approach to anything gets no empathy but at best ridicule, maltreatment at worst.
Consequences of containment, yes, but also an overwhelming sense of Schadenfreude. We took these nasty shots and you didn’t. We’re fucked and you’re not. There’s got to be something we can do now to even the playing field and make you suffer too.
I think that’s absolutely right. We will continue to be harassed, & maybe worse, because we did a lot of critical thinking & research & said, “no thx”. They didn’t, the poison is irreversible as far as I know, & thus they’re screwed. It’s against man’s very fallible nature to admit wrong, much less idiocy. And to deeply resent anyone who was right. We won’t be getting any medals or kudos from the covidians.
My Schadenfreude is that if you are vaxxed you are a dead duck within 3-5 years. As that really starts to be demonstrated, the Schadenfreude, “real estate” and everything else of the “Normies” becomes irrelevant as they finally understand that they have been murdered. Et tu, Fauci? “The engineer screams and the engine just gleams.”Don’t Look Up.
If that ends up being the case, we are going to have a lot of chaos and despair on our hands. I think the public suffers from this fear but not the government----they have a much bigger plan ahead. Instead of focusing on the opinions of our neighbors (which can certainly be exasperating) we need to focus on the bigger fight.
Here in NZ there are calls for law changes so that private property can be confiscated from Russian people here ( those evil fat cats). Are people really this stupid?
Yes. Happening here, too. And prominent people saying it aloud. Last election in Berlin was combined with a referendum in which 'the people' were asked whether the major real estate companies owning tens of thousands of appartments should be nationalized. Yes, they should. Have these people learnt nothing from the not so distant past?
It seems not. Was just talking to a friend who knows a Russian guy who's made a great contribution to his local community. Maybe after taking all his assets they will send him back to Russia. That will teach him!!
Unfortunately, in the U.S., many of the most compassionate and most ethical health care providers have been driven out of their employment by vaccine mandates. Many of the people left in the field are vengeful toward unvaccinated patients. Also left are the “obedient” who are carrying out the deadly NIH testing and treatment protocol for “COVID cases.” And the hospitals and their personnel have been told by our federal government that they don’t need to honor patient or family rights. It’s dangerous to enter a U.S. hospital these days.
It was dangerous BC (before covid). Hospitals are killing fields. Always have been. The key to staying alive is to avoid hospitals and if you are required to be in one, get in and out quickly with a patient advocate at your elbow. Hospitals have now become even worse since they kicked out all the patient advocates because "safety."
I’m happy to self pay for a doctor like you. Outside of insurance, outside of chains like Kaiser / sutter / etc that dictate what you can and can’t do. I rather self pay for a doctor that’s interested in healing and exploring options outside the box than the ‘you must get shots and mammograms that’s all we offer bye!’
We need to arrest the murderous Covidians who control our hospitals, and replace them with the handful of docs who have remained ethical during this time of atrocities.
Some medicos are already working on building an alternative medical system. Maybe joining that movement would be a better option for you. There’s a desperate need for doctors to treat the vaccine-injured and people injured by transmission from the vaxxed.
Awesome will check it out. It’s insanity for pcp here in California. Assembly line BS only. I’m healthy but looking for a doc for when I do need one :)

This will not end well.
"The need to virtue signal to their perceived peer group is stronger than any innate sense of right and wrong."
This pretty much sums it up, couldn't have said it better
Conrad's Heart of Darkness explores it in reverse: what happens if there is no peer group anymore and you lack an internal moral compass. Heart of Darkness spoke to me in my teens, must revisit
I liked The Secret Agent a short story made into a film with an uncredited appearance by Robin Williams as a bomb maker circa 1900.
Fully agree- well written
Very well said.
I don't think this person has any "innate sense of right and wrong" to overcome. I think she is a psychopath, pure and simple! There's a lot of it about...
How many doctors all over the world are psychopaths? How many now say "I won't treat patients who aren't boosted?" How many won't treat the unvaxxed?
The Hippocratic Oath has been replaced the by the Hypocritic Oath.
Disgusting human being. Like the Russian people have any decision in this. Wow. This is just plain evil. A monster on the loose. Makes me so very sad people have become like this and so very openly.

Putin and Zelensky should fight it out in a duel. Biden and Trudeau can be either one's second.
may be they are so bad that everyone gets hit and succumbs
She is a giant pile of human excrement.
You know what’s wonderful? You are free to write the word “shit” on substack!
yep. don't take it for granted. next step: paywalled. step after that?
But why when you're dealing with excrement.
Yeah, but then Substack looks like Twitter. Isn't human excrement more elegant and descriptive? And intelligent?
feces, dung, manure, defecation, BM, stool, ordure, night soil, jakes, crap, ca-ca, doo-doo, #2, poo-poo, poop, turd, dingleberry.
I gave up cussing for Lent and have pulled out my handy Roget's Thesaurus to learn new terms. It's actually fun to read it.
Ordure is my favorite. Then dingleberry. Jakes is new to me. thank you for expanding my vocabulary and continuing an enlightening discussion.
That is a defamation of excrement
oh captain my captain, i concur

what a cunt
Finally someone said it.
I know Russians in Munich. this is insanity
I think cunt is too nice to describe such a person honestly.
A few years ago, some doctor (or nurse?) wrote a post about how it was essential that doctors treat everyone. Bullseye!
You know, there's a very nasty question one can ask a doctor (or a civil servant for that matter):
"If you are wrong, and this hurts or kills me, what negative consequences of your erroneous action/decision will you suffer?"
That kind of question p*sses off these people to no end - accountability and immediate permanent personal consequences are their worst nightmare.
Not unlike Sowell's observation that "you should never give power to people who will pay no price for being wrong." (paraphrased)
To play devil's advocate here, there is a fine balance to this. Playing it too safe can be a harm of it's own.
Oh absolutely, but the doctor or other professional is supposed to know more than me, act in good faith in my best interest and keep me fully informed.

They’ll fire you as patient 😂. Horrible as it is.
That has actually happened. Twice.
"If you don't feel you trust me I can't have you as a patient."
Said by a female doctor in her fifties, after I wanted to know why I was to start popping benzo for restless legs.
Hell yeah, I don't trust that doctor! I've seen up close and personal what benzo does to you, even if you don't abuse it!
You have distilled the sentiment into its core elements beautifully.
And they want us to believe that all doctors are all knowing Gods. She is one of the reasons the medical profession is now below politicians, lawyers and the media in the trust factor department.
You forgot used car salesmen…
You beat me to it! 😆
I don't know.....seems like it's hard to get lower than a politician.
"Who is obviously mentally disturbed." No doubt prior experience being treated for such helped her jump to that conclusion. Physician, heal thyself
projection, as always with these types.
Hippocrates must be rolling over in his grave.
Hippocrates is, but his evil twin Hypocrites is happy.
Oh so nice! And in my beginning Greek class -50 years ago-- we read the Hippocratic Oath--it sticks with me
"we are refusing in principle to treat Russian patients"
That's the problem with the 'morally superior' LIBTARDS. They believe they can do anything that is not permitted for the mere mortals
Many of them really are mentally ill. There is no other way to explain it.
These are the same people that promote the healthcare for all and free healthcare for illegals ... it's just that THEY are the ONLY authority to decide who gets what (like the suggestion to let unvaccinated die)
Control healthcare and you control the people. Healthcare is probably the first thing to go after.
🙌
God has given them over to their delusions.
What principle is that?
I don't know the name but they are two principles of the communists (and any other tyrants) "I know better what's good for you" and "I can do whatever I want with you"
"I can do whatever I want to you, and you are obligated to thank me for it, because it's for your own good, and if you don't comply and admire me I will hurt you until you love me".
Weakness breeds contempt in us, and that is a nasty dirty feeling we don't like, so we want to punish the one causing it, by hurting them until we stop loathing them for what their meakness is making us feel and do. I feel I am become a stranger in a strange bigoted land... it is very dispiriting.

I’m ashamed for my alma mater. It joins the cray folks at American elite colleges that are already broken.
Yes, I noticed that early on when the “common good” was the primary reason for getting injections.
Re: empathy
Just as people who consider themselves brilliant often aren't very bright, so people who consider themselves highly compassionate are often petty tyrants.
Yes yes yes. My experience. I spent most of my adulr life in the USA and any patient who dares to ask questions or chooses a natural approach to anything gets no empathy but at best ridicule, maltreatment at worst.
See nazi times and the medical profession back then… and I say that as a German.
So this is how you end up with internment camps for people of the 'enemy' ethnicity. Japanese Americans during WW2 style.
Another example of why “forgive and forget” will not be possible - when tables are (hopefully) turned.
Those medical workers who continue to carry out the murderous Fauci hospital protocols are guilty, at very least, of manslaughter.
