I was offered some of the first available sets of the Pfizer vaccine from a local hospital where I am on staff. Most if not all of the doctors that I know and work with literally fell over themselves to get jabbed. I thought that especially for the younger healthier ones, it was insane to do this. I have a molecular biology degree I studied adenoviruses viruses, I know exactly how this mRNA technology is supposed to work and it’s never been tried in humans before. I have a semi retired older male partner Doctor Who has some health issues. I asked the hospital administration to give him my doses. They refused. It’s a long story. I had a bad taste in my mouth from this and deferred the vaccine for myself. Several doctors in the community including one of my practice partners actually called me to ask me why I wasn’t taking it. They thought I was endangering other people and other patients. I explained that this vaccine is very unlikely to stop infection and spread. It was very unlikely that this was a sterilizing vaccine. The original pfizer document that was submitted to the FDA for the EUA, Which i would cite to these people, made no representations about reducing infection. The vaccine was only meant to protect the person who received it by reducing the chance of severe illness and death. Since I was not at risk of severe illness and death, taking an experimental vaccine did not make sense for me. I explained that because this vaccine is an injection it would probably not be very effective like the influenza vaccine because it does not provide mucosal immunity . This seemed obvious. These are basic science principles that any decent student of molecular biology learns as an undergraduate . But several of my doctor acquaintances Thought I was being “selfish” and “reckless”. I actually got into a few arguments and accused them of being selfish. Because there were older sick or at risk people who could’ve gotten their doses.

Anyway I never got the shot and I got kicked off the staff of the local hospital. And I’ve had to justify my existence with request for “ exemptions”

The whole thing is a goddamn farce

My wife and i are both MDs In the New York metro area. I’m 53 she’s 50. We were both offered Some of the first pfizer shots in February 2021. I deferred, she got the two shot series. She had severe menstrual irregularities. And then in August 2021 my 17-year-old son came down with Covid. Then I got it and then she got it. We all took the front line critical care protocol. She, my wife was way sicker than I was or was my son. We are all fit healthy people with no comorbidities. She had a very severe flu like illness. None of us were ever in danger of needing to go to the hospital. But I would say in her case the vaccine failed completely
