Another day, another loss for the mRNA jabs, as old-fashioned live attenuated virus vaccines are shown to provide superior immunity in hamsters

The bright and shiny new technology is not always the way. Fuck everybody who said otherwise.

Last summer, researchers at the Freie Universität in Berlin took the genome of a “wild-type” SARS-2 virus, and subjected a crucial segment to a process known as codon pair deoptimisation.

Virus genes are instructions that tell the infected cell how to assemble other virions. There are optimal ways to write these instructions, and there are suboptimal ways to write them. When you give the virus deoptimised codon pairs, it is like sending the host cell very bad IKEA instructions for the assembly of its new viral furniture. It can still assemble virions, but it takes longer and it can’t produce as many. The SARS-2 virus burdened by these deoptimised codon pairs is called sCPD9, and it bears especially bad instructions for making other SARS-2 viruses. This makes it substantially attenuated, or weaker.

The purpose of this exercise was to develop a strain of SARS-2 that would be safe enough to tinker with in BSL-2 laboratories. The BSL-3 facilities, to which SARS-2 is normally confined, are a far greater hassle. But, of course, the real point of their research was to develop a different kind of vaccine.

Yes, it all comes back to vaccines.

The same researchers, working as part of a much larger team, have now gotten Syrian hamsters to snort their attenuated sCPD9 virus, to see how it might work as a live attenuated vaccine virus.

Well, how does it work, you ask?

By the crude measures of such experiments, it works better than the miraculous mRNA elixirs in every way.

There is a lot that one could type in response to this absurdity, and although I have had more than my fair share of scotches this evening (entertaining a girlfriend’s relatives), I will endeavour to cycle through three points:

1) I am never snorting any SARS-2 vaccine ever.

2) Also too though, it is dumb that we are still testing vaccines against a virus which has long since become a threat equivalent to the common cold.

3) Furthermore, I find it embarrassing that the allegedly knowledgeable and wise vaccinator gurus who rule us, had to go directly for the shiny new mRNA toy technology – which has proven itself to be total shit – while failing to pursue literally any other path.

Watch and listen. The message of the next few years will be: “The Covid vaccines were the greatest accomplishment of humanity. Also they have now been superseded by less innovative products envisioned in films like Contagion. This is Science.”

It is all so tiresome.
