Under the old order, we were all exposed to these things. Some of us died. It was the price paid for everyone else living unmolested.

Under the old order, all men were exposed to war. Some of us died. It was the price paid for everyone else living unmolested.

Etc, etc, etc, ...

This, I am sure we can agree, is obviously unfair on those who die of viruses and in wars. The left does not like unfairness, even, perhaps especially, if it is the most utilitarian outcome. The left must eliminate all unfairness.

There are only two fair outcomes. Either everyone dies, or no one dies. Since even the left doesn't actually want everyone to die, the latter is chosen.

And immense costs, provided equally distributed, are considered acceptable, in this pursuit of unachievable fairness and equality of outcome. The fact that time and time again, leftism in all its forms, results in worse outcomes for almost everybody, doesn't matter, because "look, we are trying to be fair to everyone!".
