I did say long story short. Infancy RSV led to asthma which led to pneumonia at age 4. It was the acetaminophen and an over-the-counter cough medication (before pneumonia diagnosis) that caused the liver failure. A specialist later calculated I was only giving him a 1/3 dose for his bodyweight. Because he had not been eating due to the pneumonia, the acetaminophen was extra toxic.
Additionally, I learned that acetaminophen and other medications do not go through clinical trials for children—they just use body weight to determine the recommended dosage. With acetaminophen in particular, if your liver is under stress from other causes like illness, not eating, or alcoholism, even a small dose can cause very rapid damage.
Of course he had all the recommended childhood vaccines, which in hindsight I can't help wondering might've been a factor in other childhood misadventures.

As an infant, in 1997 my son got RSV. According to the doctor, this is what caused his childhood asthma and, long story short, he was life-flighted at the age of four with liver failure (he's OK now). Hearing this, you would expect me to be all-in for RSV testing and vaccination.

I've read that almost every adult can be shown to have been exposed to RSV at some point in the past. Most people sail through it with no problem. Like measles and chickenpox.
Actually, what I would like public health to focus on is the danger of acetaminophen, which was the immediate cause of the liver failure. There have been some studies that show a large amount of liver damage caused by this over-the-counter drug, but livers heal and a lot of the damage, even in hospitals, is not recognized. Plus there's the $$$.
It is extremely important that children get the childhood diseases, to establish a healthy immune system.

When they later compiled the data, they found that those vaccinated, didn't get the disease vaccinated for, but they got a lot of other diseases. They were much sicker than the unvaccinated. But the vaccine got credit for stopping the original disease of concern (via trickery).
The way they diagnose between RSV or scarlet fever or malaria is also suspect and very subjective, depending on the tests chosen to "prove" the disease.

I did say long story short. Infancy RSV led to asthma which led to pneumonia at age 4. It was the acetaminophen and an over-the-counter cough medication (before pneumonia diagnosis) that caused the liver failure. A specialist later calculated I was only giving him a 1/3 dose for his bodyweight. Because he had not been eating due to the pneumonia, the acetaminophen was extra toxic.
Additionally, I learned that acetaminophen and other medications do not go through clinical trials for children—they just use body weight to determine the recommended dosage. With acetaminophen in particular, if your liver is under stress from other causes like illness, not eating, or alcoholism, even a small dose can cause very rapid damage.
Of course he had all the recommended childhood vaccines, which in hindsight I can't help wondering might've been a factor in other childhood misadventures.
It does not take much acetaminophen to cause liver damage. Don't take more than 2 grams in 24 hours
It's more complicated than that. Even the recommended dose can be dangerous if the liver is under stress from other conditions like alcoholism or illness.

I did not give my kids fever reducing meds despite the pediatrician saying to as needed. after vxs. M.y 2 kids did not get crabby or have a severe fever. Reducung a fever seemed countered to the purpose of vxs.
I’ve read somewhere (I’ll have to find it) about possible links between autism and acetaminophen, because it is so often prescribed for infants/toddlers after receiving vaccines.

I'n surprised by Gab. I'm not on it but I've thought it to be a free speech platform, I've been curious about it in the past. I'm not sure I entirely understand this post. About six months ago (or so) my grandson (age two) had what I believe was an RSV infection. It was harsh (taken to the ER), but he recovered. (BTW, he lives in Portland, OR; his family -- as well as Portlanders in general -- followed gov't protocols to the max.)
So, is Eug saying that, had there been no pandemic mania my grandson would likely have: a) enjoyed immunity from RSV; or b) gotten a mild case of RSV? (or c) something else)
most kids get RSV by age three, so your grandson had a fairly normal if unsettling experience. it’s much more dangerous for infants under 6 months. ideally they don’t get it until they’re older. unfortunately, pandemic restrictions beat back RSV for much of 2020 and 2021, so upon reopening population-wide immunity had waned substantially. this meant the most vulnerable infants were far less protected by the immunity of their parents, hospital staff etc. than before the pandemic, and a lot of them got seriously ill.
Isn't part of the picture also antibodies transferred from the mother during pregnancy or via breast milk? During lockdowns, those pregnant mothers were no longer getting RSV and thus no longer giving their babies antibodies, and then on top you have what was mentioned here already, a more naive community ripe for the picking.
