It’s an ordinary Thursday most everywhere, but today in the United States it’s Thanksgiving. I wish all of my American readers a wonderful holiday, and a happy celebration absent all hypochondria and virus anxiety.

Now that we’ve returned to the season of wintertime viruses and family gatherings, Americans are uniquely positioned to provide the rest of us with a preview of what we can expect over Christmas. Thus a brief poll:¹
