Living in a part of the US with a large number of immigrants from Eastern Europe, I can tell you that a very large percentage of them want absolutely nothing to do with these "vaccines." The first voices I heard calling bovine scat on this scam back in March of 2020 were these people, right from the start. Growing up under communism, they've developed a very healthy mistrust of government, something we in the west need to learn...and fast.

I love it. I'm staying in Kyiv. I fear Russian bullets less than German needles. Nurses shoot straighter.

And, for what it's worth, the educated Ukrainians I hang with are very skeptical of the jabs. I had that very conversation at a playground this morning, as we listened to Russian rockets in the distance.

Das soll ich auch auf deutsch schreiben. Wie koennen soche kluge Leute so dumm sein?

My family and I are helping a Ukrainian family settle into Austria. Today I had to explain to them that - above and beyond the horror and uncertainty they are experiencing - none of them would be allowed inside a restaurant or cafe here in Vienna without 2G proof. Except for the 9 year old who could take a PCR test. They looked at me in such shock and honestly I’m not sure they fully understand. They didn’t ask where they could get vaccinated though!

I was going to start with unbelievable! But that’s just not the case. It’s all too believable. How did it all come to this? When in war and refugee-ship you can’t even escape the vaccinators. Crazy.

When you run from the Nazis and end up in the neo-Communist jab-cult crazy West. Kinda surreal, ain’t it?

Parody and satire were killed. Now irony is dead and it wasn't killed by Alanis Morrissette lyrics. The entire hysterical covidian borg that morphed into the ukrainian borg are supporting neonazis and antivaxxers and if you don't pledge your undying support for neonazis and antivaxxers in Ukraine than you are a Putin apologist and he is like, literally Hitler. Long live irony.

Great post, powerful final lines.

I can't even imagine. As someone who has been fortunate enough to travel widely in my salad days, I quickly learned that it was often the most beneficent seeming and well-meaning hosts who were to be feared. Better, really, to stay in a mismanaged and dank hostel than be barraged with the culturally specific social pressures of people with firm ideas of what should be done, when, and how.

Now, I envision being a refugee (responsible for the family I now have), at the mercy of people who think they know what is best for me and my children because of the good fortune of their birth and circumstance, people who with every passing minute are able to build themselves up as the virtuous ones in the relationship. When you are poor or unlucky, richer and luckier people feel superior to you, regardless of your education and life experience. Add any kind of medical care or treatment to this and the power imbalance (and contempt) is magnified. Yes, the comment about approaching the topic with "sensitivity" may seem comparatively generous, but it is in fact exceedingly contemptuous, just as the topic of vaccinating "people of color" is one filled with patronizing attitudes. Of course we know better than these people, so our job is to put on an act of listening and being sensitive in order to get what we want.

My family took in three Ukrainian refugees, and while they are very unhappy with the Russians, they see their own government also as corrupt.

No wonder that they do not trust any government, and taking the vaccine is largely an expression in trust in government.

Note: I do not know if the refugees I talked to are vaccinated. as one is 70, and they are educated middle class, I could imagine they are. But by now I know better than to have any discussion about that.

E., we’ve been facing this issue at our southern border w/ Mexico since the idiot-in-chief took office. I live in a blue border State so that’s been maddening enough, but the whole country is effected, as not only are the illegals not even tested or mandated to be vax’d to enter the country, but then they are put up in hotels & then on busses & planes - all free of charge to fan out all over the country to spread wu-flu & other 3rd world diseases everywhere….

How effing ironic that this is the Mayor of NURNBERG. How many times will I say, “there are no words...”?

Remember, they are ex-soviets, so they don't trust governments (for a good reason, backed by bad experience). Most likely the same percentage that want to be vaccinated also want to have fascist government (but are WAY louder than the rest - something like libtards here in US)

Aside from the actual human tragedies, of course, this is quite an entertaining new stumbling-block.

The US solved it, though, for our southern border. Since our vaccines still have only EUA, they can't legally be compelled on non-citizens or green card holders. This has of course been a source of irritation to all those firemen and cops and healthcare workers forced out of their jobs. But c'est la guerre, I guess...
