Eugyppious, a question for you: Why does German political and public culture have such a pervasive, deep and abiding fealty to “right-think”? Whether it is climate change, EU rule, fiscal fidelity, feminism, education and technology, special populations, COVID, or ideologies of the past, German politics and public seem over-committed to “right-think” and willing to use massive media uniformity, social censure, and state power to enforce “right-think” and push it to extreme and absurd conclusions. Why is this? Where does it come from? What can be done about it? Yes, ‘current thing’ of this specific moment matters, but the overall pattern is what gets to me. Can you explain it?

Who would have thought that Americans would have shown Germany the path forward? Eugy has led us on a listening tour of German politics and we have been lagging only slightly in duplicating the follies in the US.
Suddenly, the tables have turned. The AfD can throw off the shackles imposed by the media and forge ahead making Germany the powerhouse of engineering again.

I thank goodness they couldn't just let Trump deal with Covid, get the egg on his face and then move on with their chosen team after. The fact they had to get the WEF shiteshow on the road right then in 2020 exposed their real faces and agendas to the public. I feel we got a second chance with this election. I'm hoping it spreads to places like the UK and Germany.
Yes. While it is tempting to see some dark plan of 4D space chess unfolding, more likely it was luck. They overreached, had a chance to cram things down had Harris won (court-packing, statehood for PR and DC, etc) but they missed and are now exposed.
There are corners of the internet that think it was allowed to go on this long to expose the depth of the scheming and depravity (think Q-type analyses) but if they're right, I'd certainly have no way of knowing.
The difference was that free speech became the 2nd most important issue, after the economy, as the election season wore on.
It was alarming to many normies because, before now , NOBODY could conceive of a question about freedom of speech being an "issue" in the US, let alone understand that it was under attack.

Most of my friends are mourning, and commiserating with each other. I figure the better part of valor is to keep quiet right now.
I was driving near a university and saw 3 women in their 50’s huddled together with pain etched on their faces. It was very clear what they were commiserating about. I threatened my son that I was going to roll down his window and yell out- Trump 2024 BABY!!! But I decided not to mortify him at the last moment. It was tempting though. So tired of the bloody censorship.
At my kid's university, one of the homosexual clubs hosted an "Election Processing Space" on Wednesday. Lots of colleges' professors cancelled classes for a mourning period.
A lot of snowflakes in the younger generation. And older generations, too.
It’s so weird to peer into these bubbles of dystopian Trump fantasy- they largely seem to be enabling one another…luckily at my son’s campus I do believe there were quite a few Trump supporters, so I’m hoping that generation makes it. He’s in a state school, but it’s largely liberal because it has a good academic standing. He left an Ivy League after the covid mandates became to much for him (and me). His old campus is bonkers, so glad he left.
