Bavarian AfD representative Ramona Storm has been fined €24,000 for posting a video of a leftist protester throwing a Nazi salute, in an attempt to expose and denounce him
While the US relinquished its military occupation of Germany in 1949, there is still sufficient presence that a re-occupation would be a relatively simple matter. Just sayin'.
I've often wondered how it would work if the US government air dropped 3 million packages containing an AR-15 with ten 30 round magazines and 1000 5.56 rounds in appropriate areas of Venezuela.
"Germany surrendered herself to this foul conjunction of evil forces. The nation fell victim to the Nazi scourge because its leaders lacked the wisdom to forsee the consequences and the courage to stand firm in the face of threats. Their failure was the inevitable outcome of that sinister undercurrent of German philosophy which preaches the supreme importance of the state and the complete subordination of the individual. A nation in which the individual means nothing will find few leaders courageous and able enough to serve its best interests."

"Final judgment as to the relative degrees of guilt among those in the dock must await the presentation of the proof in detail. Nevertheless, before the introduction of evidence, it will be helpful to look again at the defendants and their part in the conspiracy. What manner of men are they, and what was their major role?
The 20 physicians in the dock range from leaders of German scientific medicine, with excellent international reputations, down to the dregs of the German medical profession. All of them have in common a callous lack of consideration and human regard for, and an unprincipled willingness to abuse their power over the poor, unfortunate, defenseless creatures who had been deprived of their rights by a ruthless and criminal government. All of them violated the Hippocratic commandments which they had solemnly sworn to uphold and abide by, including the fundamental principles never to do harm - "primum non nocere."
Outstanding men of science, distinguished for their scientific ability in Germany and abroad, are the defendants Rostock and Rose. Both exemplify, in their training and practice alike, the highest traditions of German medicine. Rostock headed the Department of Surgery at the University of Berlin and served as Dean of its medical school. Rose studied under the famous surgeon, Enderlen, at Heidelberg and then became a distinguished specialist in the fields of public health and tropical diseases. Handloser and Schroeder are outstanding medical administrators. Both of them made their careers in military medicine and reached the peak of their profession. Five more defendants are much younger men who are nevertheless already known as the possessors of considerable scientific ability, or capacity in medical administration. These include the defendants Karl Brandt, Ruff, Beiglboeck, Schaefer, and Becker-Freyseng.
A number of the others such as Romberg and Fischer are well trained, and several of them attained high professional position. But among the remainder few were known as outstanding scientific men. Among them at the foot of the list is Blome who has published his autobiography entitled "Embattled Doctor" in which he sets forth that he eventually decided to become a doctor because a medical career would enable him to become "master over life and death.""

"Guilt for the oppressions and crimes of the Third Reich is widespread, but it is the guilt of the leaders that is deepest and most culpable. Who could German medicine look to keep the profession true to its traditions and protect it from the ravaging inroads of Nazi pseudo-science? This was the supreme responsibility of the leaders of German medicine--men like Rostock and Rose and Schroeder and Handloser. That is why their guilt is greater than that of any of the other defendants in the dock. They are the men who utterly failed their country and their profession, who showed neither courage nor wisdom nor the vestiges of moral character. It is their failure, together with the failure of the leaders of Germany in other walks of life, that debauched Germany and led to her defeat. It is because of them and others like them that we all live in a stricken world."
So... satire is not allowed in Germany now? I wonder what would happen if you posted the video of John Cleese doing his nazi imitation in his comedy series "Faulty Towers." Sounds like that's what the 83-year-old was doing.
It is always a lot of fun to read about the latest German goofiness . making fun of it has never been easier .Would it be a major crime if I showed up in Germany with a Hitler mustache ? The mustache that is catching the snot when I have a runny nose ?? If I get prostituted when visiting as a tourist ,with the Hitler mustache ,and all my money goes for paying the .fine .I will have to stay in Germany for ever .My only escape would be to a migrant community ,where every thing is free .
Take heart from one of the next generation of British comedians, Rowan Atkinson. His skits on Not the Nine O'Clock News were brilliant and he moved on to worldwide fame with Mr Bean. He has been an steadfast voice for freedom of speech and freedom to make jokes, even if they are at someone's else's expense (and there aren't really any other kinds of jokes).
He also had a cameo role in a James Bond movie as the gloriously named Nigel Small-Fawcett, of the Foreign Office. Maybe that inspired him to the later role of Johnny English, a short series of movies that were a satirical homage to the Bond genre, where he played a bumbling spy, whose catastrophes of ineptitude turned into last-minute triumphs.
With the current use of the law, it seems Herr Cleese should be arrested on the spot when he enters the Federal Republic and an international warrant is in need immediately.
I find it hard to believe that everyone who opposes AfD is a Boomer. I am sure many supporters are Boomers as well. Sticking to the absence of free speech in Germany would bolster your argument.
The Communist Party in Germany and the International Socialist (not the National Socialists) formed the Antifaschistische Aktion in 1932( the two red flags on its logo symbolized Communists in unity with socialists). Keep in mind fascist is what Communists call all non-communists. As Marx outlines, Socialism is the last step to Communism nirvana.
Here is a great photo of the Antifa Flag on the Communist Headquarters in Germany.
I slept oddly on my shoulder last night, and I and was trying to stretch out associated arm muscles this morning in the conservatory – huge windows on the first floor. In the dusk, with the lamp on, I was totally visible on the street and an old man had stopped to look at me. I rapidly put out the light and withdrew. I'm not totally sure how viable an 86a prosecution would be, given that I was in my own home, but you never know. This is level of paranoia these kinds of indictments create.
You've been dragged all the way back into medieval times when heresy was a death sentence and anyone could accuse anyone of heresy. Or like living in any Muslim country today.
Every time I think of saying to you "come on over!" I stop and remind myself that Trump will continue to be President for less than four years now and God only knows what will come after, considering the level of hysterical fury whipped up every 15 minutes by the Democrats.
I wonder daily how so many people can have lived through a Plague Era that destroyed the childhoods of their own young and *still* not repudiate its engineers. It's one thing not to care about one's neighbors. But--
I have been looking at other countries just in case, but have found nothing worth while so far. The ones I would consider, I don't speak the language of, and what would they want with an old woman anyways? And after all, for the remaining years I think I will just sit it out, except when the grid were to fall through, I could not possibly live here in the south with temps over a 100.
I have had a lot of kind offers to move to the South. You just articulated what I haven't. I'd rather deal with cold winters than hot summers, frankly.
I had a few years of living where the summers can easily reach 120F and now I feel oppressed when it reaches 85F. With God having kindly invented polyester fleece I'm very happy where we regularly get sub-zero winter weather.
Me too. And a lifetime packed into kitchens that could easily reach the same has not helped either. Also, for various reasons, I have lived with minimal heat during the winter for many years so I am quite adjusted to temps between 50-65 in the house. I knit a lot, so I have a lot of sweaters that keep me perfectly warm most of the time.
this winter for the first time in probably 12 years we had a nice pack of snow, lasting 2 days ! My dog and I had a blast. But I am not very good with real cold, either.
The vagaries of geriatric physiology elude me. I am the exemplar of the saw, "old blood runs cold." I feel chilled if my home sinks below 80°, and am not really uncomfortable outdoors until it exceeds 110° or so. If I last 15 more years, I may be ready for a comfortable second career capping oil wells.
I first lived in Tucson for a year, and coped very well with the dry heat. But Georgia is muggy... this morning at 6 when we got up, it was 80 and the cooling was running. 4 days in a row my porch thermometer is over 100. At first I liked the heat, I come from a cold country. But now... LOL.
I remember a Dutch song, from years ago - Vluchten kan niet meer
Song by Frans Halsema and Jenny Arean ‧ 1977
A sad song about how it is impossible to run away, how you can only find refuge with each other. Prophetic, almost. Both vocalists gone now, but their song remains. I have listened to it several times in the last 5 years, because even that 'with each other' is barely there anymore. Most friends dropped off during the scamdemic.
Prachtig lied! So apt in these times! As you say Ingrid, many friends have fled. Jenny Arean has not passed away yet though. Frans Halsema indeed has died, way too young.
It is so hard to imagine that this is actually real and not trivial, though attacking what is trivial is how the serious civilization destroying totalitarianism is ushered in, it seems to me. Like the nonhate crime incidents in the UK where the rainbow spandex pudgy midwit police show up at 6 AM and peer at your bookshelf to check for Brexityness. Even true here in the states, where I have felt free to just rant and rave and eviscerate whomever and whatever as all my money is in an inheritance account w/o my name on it, and now I need to find a bank that won't debank (such a stupid word) me if the data miners use the wayback machine to find my sins. In America. In the West. You are having to turn out the lights so no one will inform on you. Washington State has a new microaggression hotline. We are all so derealized about it as the form is new, and the form is ludicrous triviality. Nonetheless, you have not lost your sense of humor. I almost spit out my tea over "a spontaneous fascism" No one expects the Spanish Inquisition. https://www.eugyppius.com/p/new-retarded-german-speech-prosecution/comments
If you recall some years ago, Mark Steyn was prosecuted in Canadian court for QUOTING a radical islamic speaking about radical islamic things. He was prosecuted under hate speech laws, even though he didn't speak the speech. Go figure . . .
This seems to be an attempt to squash educating people on past regimes of dictatorships that were totalitarian and horrifically evil. By prosecuting all speech, including the quotes of those who spoke real hate as examples, they rewrite history to suit their end goals.
Exactly. I tried linking to Mein Kampf here last year, our Stack host suspended me from commenting for awhile for my efforts. It's available on archive.org, just search books for the title. I think eugyppius suspended me because of German laws and such, but I had found articles online explaining that Germany used to ban it but now allow it, though it's highly discouraged, you get demerits.
That said, when you read the book you learn that it's really a fascinating insight into how people are herded into totalitarianism. It delves into the use of propaganda, it demonstrated a very sophisticated understanding of human psychology and the power of mass media, entertainment, academia and culture to indoctrinate. And why it's important to only target the masses, with simple, repetitive sayings. And to not even bother trying to convince the educated classes, they can be bought, coerced by enough other motivations that high-level intellectual understanding of and agreement with ideas don't require. Says that trying to prevail in high-minded rigorous debate is a fool's errand, only to play to the emotional, simplistic values of the large masses. Get the large movable middle to go along and the educated dissenters can be brought to heel, or eliminated.
I had been told my whole life that it was banned because the content was so dangerous and seductive, so compelling that reading it would make everyone little NotSee's. Truth is that reading it reveals that authorities today are using the exact same tactics and strategies that are described in it. And if more read it more would be on to them, see what they're doing. It's the same exact thinking.
Which makes sense, since the EU's Ursula von der Leyen and most leaders in Europe today are the descendants of leading fascist NotSee's of the 1930's-1940's. Not just those who were swept up in it, but descendants of those who believed they had the right to rule, the individual was dangerous, all life endeavor must be in service to the state. And that their authority can never be questioned, they are made of finer clay, most others are useless eaters, or should just worry about being worker bees and not bother with things like governing that they could never understand.
And most all of them are eugenicists. Meaning they believe they have better blood, better genes. The excuse of "they can't be held accountable for the sins of their parents" doesn't apply for eugenicists. They owe their status to their parents, don't get to pick and choose which traits and values they inherited and which ones they didn't based on their utility today.
I read a small booklet online years ago, from the 1930s, forgot the man’s name. The ideas at first seemed quite good. But then he started explaining how he wanted things done and then of course, he went totally off the rails.
I read things that Oswald Mosley wrote when I was reading about the Mitfords. He wanted a united Europe with a body to govern them. EU anyone? Any echoes today.
So, that 83-year-old guy was prosecuted for performing an actual Hitler salute—he admitted it—but got off by claiming it was actually a protest of Hitler. Then this AfD lady posted a video of his act, with the aim of protesting his means of protesting, and now she's going to be a criminal?
It's all contextual, you see. Which is divined by 'experts' in hate speech. Unburdoned by our tiny water bear brains.
Like the "ok"👌 sign. It must be contextualized. If you possess hate thoughts - as authorities define hate - then the hand gesture is hateful. See, simple!
'subject to accidental replication anytime somebody waves or tries to shield his eyes from the sun'
Brilliant entrepreneurial inspiration: invent a harness or brace that will prevent the wearer from raising their upper arm above 90°. You could make a killing peddling these at protests and counterprotests. There's also a potential market among politicians, and the elderly who seem to be especially prone to these misadventures. Send a promotional freebie to Elon Musk.
and yet...I heard an interview with a retired American general telling everyone that the Germans were busy forming the 4th Reich and so nobody should sell them any weapons to pass onto the Ukrainians in case they got their grandfathers' uniforms out of mothballs and started it all up again. So maybe all these hand waving folk are merely in training?
Just think how much stranger and smellier a predicament Germans would be in now if the Hitlerian salute had involved the swiping of one’s hand across their buttocks instead of raising an outstretched arm: Everyone would be walking around with dirty bottoms out of fear of being branded fascist!
(Side note: I’m reasonably sure that this is the first time I’ve ever written the phrase “dirty bottom” in any context.)
What is happening in Germany as you describe it calls to mind the “ Streisand Effect “ .
As you know ,the singer went ballistic when someone flew a drone over her house in Malibu and exposed its opulence. The louder she protested the curiouser the public became .
Maybe if Germans didn’t freak out every time a politically incorrect event happened ….it would cease to be “ a thing “ and Germany could return to its former greatness .
Is there no end to this German retardery?!
We're still on the upswing I think.
Frightening thought 😵💫
I’m starting to think Trump sees this behavior…. The 20% tariffs move to 30% as a result.
It would appear that Trump is the only one to take notice.
Personally, I think the Germans are gonna need more ammo.
Oh, and some guns to shoot it with.
While the US relinquished its military occupation of Germany in 1949, there is still sufficient presence that a re-occupation would be a relatively simple matter. Just sayin'.
The US still has 38k personnel stationed in Germany.
Too bad that the sentiment that once caused naive American citizens to be eager to "send a gun to defend a [European] home" has been fatally poisoned.
https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/question-of-the-day-would-you-send-a-gun-to-defend-a-british-home/

Q: I understand “handsome.”
What does “pristine” have to do with “Patriot”other than alliteration? Curious.
Pure blood.
Unadulterated with mRNA poison.
Proud of it!
Tardigrade ,you can raise your right arm up high ,as in a salute ,as long as you form a fist with your hand ,like saluting Stalin .
I find the opening statement made at the Doctors Trial in the Subsequent Nuremberg Trials to be insightful:

Just imagine what they’d actually love to do if they thought they could get away with it?
Hell is never satisfied.
It seems to end at AfD's doorstep.
Not any time soon.
Don't forget Pommes Schranke!
Unfortunately, probably not. Too much power & control is at stake to allow the peasants to re-take any of it back from the ruling elite.
So... satire is not allowed in Germany now? I wonder what would happen if you posted the video of John Cleese doing his nazi imitation in his comedy series "Faulty Towers." Sounds like that's what the 83-year-old was doing.
Sense of humor is not allowed.

Let's not show them Chaplin's The Great Dictator.

Do NOT, under any circumstances, play "Springtime for Hitler."
Or the Hitler Rap, form another Mel Brooks movie classic, To Be or Not to Be. Used to be on the video Juke Box in my local pub in 1984. Happy days.
Can be found on YT.
They’re insulated from and therefore unfamiliar with the “Sound of Music.” 😂
For Germany it was the greatest blessing ,that Stalin won the war ,instead of Hitler ,because Germany had many years of paradise there after .
Huh?
🎵🎵SPRINGTIME for HITLER and GERMANEEEEEEEEEEEE!🎶🎶🎵
Except even John Cleese has lost his sense of humor now. The parasite has bored in everywhere.
I briefly subscribed to his Substack. Now I'm resigned to just enjoying his older work.
A disturbing number of these guys would impale their younger selves on the wokeries of their dotage.
I saw a glimpse of Blackadder once and must try to watch some episodes.
And I loved him in "Love Actually."
Well, he just got Woke like all the other entertainers.
Boring and cowardly.
Truly.
I saw him in person last year. Far too much of it was just rambling on about MSM talking points.
It's such a shame. But Trump as I've said before is the Human Smelter who renders everyone down to their essential elements.
You read my mind.
Just wait until "they" can read yours!
That would be interesting and quite possibly surprising.
Pretty sure they already can.
probably not allowed in the UK anymore, either.
It’s been a long time since satire has been allowed in Germany. Not since the 90’s if not before.
BTW, Flying Circus was first produced for the German market but did much better back home for a British audience.
I thought it was another Tavistock joint, like the Beatles. But I enjoyed it nonetheless.
With the current use of the law, it seems Herr Cleese should be arrested on the spot when he enters the Federal Republic and an international warrant is in need immediately.
"Whatever you do, don't talk about The War"
Germans have never really understood satire/sarcasm/irony. Normally have to put a warning at the top of the essay if you’re going to go there.
😂😂😂😂😂
Germans never had much to begin with
The Irish would agree with that
Germany is going full retard. Soon they will ban arms and mustaches. Boomer antifascists are destroying civilization.
I find it hard to believe that everyone who opposes AfD is a Boomer. I am sure many supporters are Boomers as well. Sticking to the absence of free speech in Germany would bolster your argument.
Boomers are the new punching bag.
Possibly I'm biased, being a boomer.
Fear not. There are good people of all ages, and many more like me (1961 edition) who really should do better.
Nazi Geezer-Boomers are dying off. Greens will replace them as the new Nazis.
Boomers generally do t vote for left wing parties. I abhor Antifa.
Germany needs to sit down in front of a mirror, and have a serious talk with itself.
And then it needs to quickly take aggressive action . . Maybe find a leader.
Where is Germany when the West needs it? Man up.
The Communist Party in Germany and the International Socialist (not the National Socialists) formed the Antifaschistische Aktion in 1932( the two red flags on its logo symbolized Communists in unity with socialists). Although it probably wasn't exactly your intent, I had quite a good laugh at this comment!
The best way of dealing with this of course is to mandate everyone wear a straitjacket in public. You never know what an arm is likely to do!

Like the Rosetta Stone.
I read things that Oswald Mosley wrote when I was reading about the Mitfords. He wanted a united Europe with a body to govern them. EU anyone? Any echoes today.
Nothing new under the sun.
isn't that what Mao did?
That makes perfect sense! 👍
This is making my tiny water bear brain hurt.

I mistakenly followed your link.
Now I'm swimming in the stench of brain fart.
Thanks for that!
Lol! Right! It's how these people think. If it can even be described as thinking.
Well, OK then.
🤣
It's 100% trivially explainable as: you are never guilty if you are the Right Type of Person, and always guilty if you are not.
For posting.
The medium is the message, I guess.
Marshall Mcluhan.
Being afraid of repeating 1933, Germany is repeating 1949. Communists hate fascists.
Same Collectivist Authoritarian bird, different wings.
Would it be a re-ushering of the Third Reich or a Fourth Reich? They can't lose the tie to Hitler so perhaps it's a 3.5 Reich?
Third Reich 2.0
It's a "bugfix release."
It would be 4er.
You're welcome.
and yet...I heard an interview with a retired American general telling everyone that the Germans were busy forming the 4th Reich and so nobody should sell them any weapons to pass onto the Ukrainians in case they got their grandfathers' uniforms out of mothballs and started it all up again. So maybe all these hand waving folk are merely in training?
...and maybe Trump's in on it after all? Gasp!
Your Honour, clearly a fascist:
Storm... Sturm... Stürmer...
Case proven. Strafgeld verdoppelt.
That might be hyper inflation.
It’s hard to believe that this can be real. 😵💫
Poe's Law
Just think how much stranger and smellier a predicament Germans would be in now if the Hitlerian salute had involved the swiping of one’s hand across their buttocks instead of raising an outstretched arm: Everyone would be walking around with dirty bottoms out of fear of being branded fascist!
(Side note: I’m reasonably sure that this is the first time I’ve ever written the phrase “dirty bottom” in any context.)
i wonder if it's ok to be anti-anti-antifascist?
The whole affair already sounds like the far-fetched plot of a little satirical theatre piece
