You are correct. The only path that makes constitutional sense is to do what was done in Britain and campaign seriously to leave the EU. Sellner and Eva are instead being directed into a tar pit - exactly what the EU intended when it created this malignant pseudo-"referendum" process to start with.
Yeah, coz voting to leave the EU worked out really well for the UK didn't it. Look at us controlling our borders and making our own decisions like it's 1826 or something.
It did work out. Britain now has at least two right wing parties that put the AfD to shame.
You are labouring under the misconception that leaving the EU is sufficient. It is necessary but not sufficient. EU membership kills democracy by making huge swathes of policy illegal. Therefore, no parties that exist at the time of leaving will have anyone in them who genuinely disagreed with EU policy.
Would Farage be leading the polls if not for Brexit? No. Reform's policies would be illegal. Farage would still be shouting listlessly in the EU "Parliament", another fake system designed to look close enough to democracy to distract the easily distracted.
We are still "ruled" by a political class and a civil service that are nudging us back into the EU fold. I doubt even Farage will manage to sweep the civil service clean of the stolid Remainers who will simply sit on their hands should he ever get elected. And we simply replaced European migrants who came to work with total foreigners who come to take what we offer. I see no sign that we are controlling our borders at all. I also see no sign that we are making any decisions that are for the betterment of Britain either. As for two right wing parties - well, one is simply Tory reinvention and the other can't even get the BBC to name them.
One step at a time. Their policies are now constitutional, all that's required is the political will and energy to implement the desired changes. In this, Britain is far ahead of everywhere except Switzerland. Look at what Eugy writes and recognize it's about Germany, that if not for leaving pathetic and pointless appeals to the EU commission would be what Brits would be doing too. The hour there is truly late but if any country gets out in time it will be Britain.
To be fair, you are almost there. It did pull the curtains back to the normies that Labour and Conservative Parties are both just globalist parties and nothing else. It gave birth to the Reform and Restore Parties.
Do you think that is because the UK left the EU? It are the politicians who should make the laws and have them executed properly. But now all of Europe is doing the same, they should all have the illegals removed, and see if any of the legalized ones need to be repatriated. There are a few here in the US who still put 'the old country' first, and quite a few in government fancy the second country of which they hold a passport. You know which one that is.
Being part of the Globalist EU/UN/WHO/Nato group is working out real good---right? You still have electricity in your neighborhood. How much has violent crime increased in your area? Useful idiots abound.
If not for the self-inflicted festering wound of inviting the entire Commonwealth in, Brexit may have actually met the ends it aspired to on paper. Even if every EU-genic migrant went home, there's an uncountable horde of Subcons and Windrushers that made the "control our borders" selling point moot. That'd require a different mechanism entirely.
The political class have very poor memories but their repetition and the echo chambers in the MSM does seem to work for a short time.
As I recall history tells us the original genuine Nazis would not allow the Jews to leave because they wanted to destroy them all. The Wansee Conference formalised the objective and methods.
It is very odd to compare remigration proposals with a policy that banned migration.
What am I missing here.
In Britain the Uniparty is trying to portray Nigel Farage’s call for equal treatment for all as somehow extreme.
Meanwhile police admit their protocols call for differential (favourable) treatment of minorities while Lord Gove has claimed he is more right wing than Farage.
Maybe he is because on my definition Farage isn’t right wing at all. Meanwhile the rest of the political class here continues to use “right wing” as generalised abuse.
The idiocy which Eugyppius tells us about in Germany is total among the political class here.
Exactly, they shouldn’t engage with the EU at all, but instead they could also appeal to individual countries. I think Poland and Hungary have already some legislation limiting EU approved immigrants, and they should be empowering that language to be adopted by other countries.
They should just campaign in domestic politics to change the constitution to make EU law subsidiary to domestic law.
This would be a treaty violation but it doesn't matter. The law can simply state otherwise. If the EU retaliated it will lose as it has no army or police. Look at the totally ineffective response to the UK leaving. Shit tons of barking, zero bite. Idiots think there was economic impact, there was zero. The EU is a paper tiger. Kill it with fire, ideally from a cigarette lighter.
Remigration is never going to happen at any scale because there are too many weak-kneed "moderates" that fall victim to the "hostage puppy" trick where the media and leftist latch on to some story about children being separated from parents, etc. even though they know that large scale immigration has lowered their standard of living.
Hate to pooh-pooh the idea, but it ain't ever going to happen.
Best we can do is just eliminate more migration AND potentially make life unbearable for migrants by making the process the punishment for obtaining documents, etc to operate in society.
Making it untenable for migrants so they self-deport is the only solution that will work in the end imo.
Concentrate upon the illegals. As you state, the process becomes the punishment, welfare almost impossible, free transport back home with an allowance for resettlement, and off they go.
The USA has shown the way: Seal the borders, round up illegals and detain them until repatriation, and encourage self-deportation.
The figures speak for themselves. No new illegal immigrants. Five hundred thousand enforced deportation, and three million self deported in the past year and a half.
European politicians are experts at over bureaucratizing everything, so just make halal food practically impossible to make due to 29 super expensive manufacturing/production steps needed to produce it, including state of the art equipment that costs millions for “hygienic standards”.
Ryan is my official spokesman, and I agree 100% with his comments.
Here in the US with the "Government" in favor of reimmigrations it lasted less than a year and even then, it was mostly criminals that got deported. You might be able to slow newcomers but the one's here will mostly stay.
"Unfortunately, this problem does not come packaged with any easy solutions, and I am less and less certain a) how remigration is supposed to work, and b) that the newly ascendant and highly dogmatic remigrationists on the right have any path towards realising their vision."
Might I suggest shutting-off the money spigot? The 'new neighbors' will leave, costing taxpayers nothing at all.
Also, adopt the Swiss population cap, setting the total at whatever number it was before the 'new neighbors' arrived.
I agree that stopping benefits for asylees is one of most promising angles, but unfortunately here too EU law constrains us: No discrimination on basis of nationality is permitted by member states. So we're stuck paying random people who showed up yesterday.
'As in so many other areas from Covid to climatism, retarded elite policies are failing and unwinding themselves, but we’re not yet winning.'
While agreeing about the not yet-winning-part, I'm saddened by how discouraged friend eugyppius sounds.
It's a process! Everything goes up and down, from climate, to life on earth, to the condition of Homo sapiens. One can only hope to enjoy one of the upswings.
Here in the US, we had a massive problem with illegal aliens but since the last election, that problem is dwindling in importance for a variety of reasons. First we effectively closed our borders to illegal aliens. Second we have been making a massive effort to deport illegal aliens. Third, we are clamping down on the ability of illegal aliens to earn money in the US, obtain welfare benefits or have bank accounts here. We have also jacked up our remittance rates because of the amount of money transferred by aliens outside the US. Violent crime is down because a significant proportion of violent criminals have been illegal aliens who have now either been deported or incarcerated. We still have problems here but the problems caused by illegal aliens is being ameliorated. Germany could do something about the problem of illegal aliens in Germany if they wanted to but they don't want to make the effort. Those millions who arrived in recent years have no intention of leaving voluntarily but who is to blame for that?
there are simple things governments can do to make migration to europe less attractive. they could stop funding ngos which support illegal migrants. they could stop paying money to non-european citizens. they could stop translation services in all public walks of life. they could ban non-stun slaughter of animals. they could pass laws ensuring faces must be uncovered in public areas. they could stop funding welfare to dependents of legal migrant workers. they could stop providing work visas for any work that could be done by a native european. they could stop giving visas to student spouses and families.
however, governments can bring themselves to deal with the hypocritical smug fury that would descend on them from the woke middle-class Guardian reader who volunteers with the ngos or knows the producer of a TV talk show or is sleeping with the politicians. They can't bring themselves to do the work that would be required to implement any of those suggestions. Much easier to just call everyone else a right-wing fascist racist something-phobe.
"Reality television and infotainment rely on the "new character" cycle because their model is based on manufactured drama and the consumption of novelty. Once a personality is exposed or audiences become bored, the "authentic" illusion fades, forcing producers to find new subjects who haven't yet learned to mask their flaws for the camera.
Traditional entertainment characters are scripted archetypes built for narrative arcs—think protagonists, mentors, or villains. Their purpose is to drive a story toward a conclusion.
In contrast, reality characters are functional participants in an environment designed to provoke conflict. They are valued for volatility and lack of self-awareness rather than character development. While traditional characters serve the story, reality characters are the raw material the story is built upon. Once that material is exhausted, it must be replaced to keep the cycle turning."
I was once on a plane to Brussels* with a deportee at the back, screaming and crying.
It's obviously not feasible to mass-remigrate large numbers of people by force over the distances involved. But the imagery and the discussion are a necessary part of the debate.
The practicalities need to be multifaceted, but talking about a 17-point plan is an even better way to be ignored by your potential audience than taking remigration remigration remigration. Most of those 17 (or however many) points are actually easily implementable. No welfare for asylum seekers. Tent or portakabin and 2 colds a day. No recourse to public funds until you have paid in for a minimal period of say 5 years. Heavy restriction of all migration from certain countries (we know which ones). Winding back the dual nationality provisions for migrants taking citizenship - and perhaps introducing some Swiss-style community input on naturalization. These are all legally doable without overturning the constitution, and without having to pack planes with unwilling departees. But they don't make good memes.
*: I will tactfully refrain from comment on whether deportation to Belgium might be considered incompatible with human rights.
It's only the economic cudgel that ever achieves any desired goal but as always you need to get a majority of affected people to collectively use that power. The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a brilliant strategy that worked. (And it's immaterial that Rosa Parks was an activist and not just a tired black lady; she represented the interests of a multitude of real, tired black ladies.)
It requires as you know no discipline to sign a petition but to be a purposeful consumer or refrainer from patronizing places that in a variety of ways work against your interests requires the exercise of silent will and that's just no fun for anybody.
Over here the Trump Administration is truly doing the Lord's work in removing to the extent it can, despite relentless opposition even from its purportedly own people, the economic incentives that lure and keep the unwanted burrowed in to every aspect of society.
With no European government willing to do that, it's up to individuals working together to create critical mass, and as you observe...
I agree. Unfortunately though in the US both parties have been so complicit in the destruction of the country, and so many people who consider themselves conservative still swoon over Reagan who opened the gates to hell on so many fronts.
Turns out that almost no one really believes in or wants to preserve our foundational values. They only like the parts that serve non-Constitutional agendas.
And yet, as I pointed out to a liberal friend the other day, the recent breakdown of voters is 25% Democrat, 25% Republican, and 50% independent, many of whom are disaffected liberals like me.
The Uniparty should take this evidence of dissatisfaction more seriously. Or maybe they are, but their method of attempting to deal with it is stupidly self-interested (evidenced by the last two Democratic "election autopsies").
Few things struck me more than eugyppius's pointing out some time ago that politics is war.
On the big issues how can there ever be compromise? Either one wants a certain type of country, or one wants a different type of country.
As I've said before my purpose in whoring out my integrity for the sake of the nation to vote for Trump in 2024 for the first and presumably only time was that he would destroy both parties as they presently are. Independents (as we both are) will take that opportunity to build something reasonable that adheres to our foundational values, or we'll let the malevolent idiots win. The problem is that independents tend not to be ferocious fighters.
Individual countries need to adopt clever and tied and tested self-deportation strategies used in other countries. There needs to be financial incentives and huge new bureaucratic blocks to things making immigrants lives so easy in the new European countries. These measures should include, but not be limited to; make it difficult to create a bank account, difficult to get a loan, hard to get healthcare, make it difficult for them to employed, make sure they pay enormous taxes, place huge taxes on remittances sent to their home countries, financial incentives to actually return home (like one time payment of cash), etc. Many of these strategies can even be cloaked in typical leftist garbage language, and enacted as “forms of protection needed for the immigrants”, thereby requiring special ID’s, information and paperwork about their backgrounds (which can require them finding their actual criminal histories from their countries, etc).
You are correct. The only path that makes constitutional sense is to do what was done in Britain and campaign seriously to leave the EU. Sellner and Eva are instead being directed into a tar pit - exactly what the EU intended when it created this malignant pseudo-"referendum" process to start with.

"Yes, Minister" was excellent and accurate social commentary.
'Can't even get the BBC to name them'.
Yes but that's not the path to victory. By the time they are naming you it is because you already won and their wives mentioned you during sex.
100%.
To be fair, you are almost there. It did pull the curtains back to the normies that Labour and Conservative Parties are both just globalist parties and nothing else. It gave birth to the Reform and Restore Parties.

Brussels is already on fire, from what I saw from footage this week, lol
that is terrible. traumatising.
I lived there for a year or two while my parents were living Wezembeek-Oppem. I am shocked but not shocked. Belgium is weak.
Remigration is never going to happen at any scale because there are too many weak-kneed "moderates" that fall victim to the "hostage puppy" trick where the media and leftist latch on to some story about children being separated from parents, etc. even though they know that large scale immigration has lowered their standard of living.

European politicians are experts at over bureaucratizing everything, so just make halal food practically impossible to make due to 29 super expensive manufacturing/production steps needed to produce it, including state of the art equipment that costs millions for “hygienic standards”.
Death by a thousand paper cuts 😄
Put a tax on Muslims - 10%. They do this to non-Muslims in Muslim countries. I'm a big fan of reciprocity.
And eat more 🥓...
Encouraging self-deportation is not at odds with remigration. In fact, its just one of the different forms of remigration that Sellner considers.
Ryan is my official spokesman, and I agree 100% with his comments.
Here in the US with the "Government" in favor of reimmigrations it lasted less than a year and even then, it was mostly criminals that got deported. You might be able to slow newcomers but the one's here will mostly stay.
This is not constructive but it gave me a wry smile. Someone posted (on Notes, I think) “Diversity is our adversity.”

'Unfortunately, this problem does not come packaged with any easy solutions'
In this context, the old aphorism 'putting the toothpaste back into the tube' is especially apt.
Stop giving them money and other freebies. Remove the incentives to be in Europe.
Here's a typo twofer:
'Yet personal considerations like just aren’t enough to blunt my scpeticism.'
Grammar fixes needed:
"Unfortunately, this problem does not packaged with any easy solutions..."
"In the past years, the myth that Diversity is our Strength..."
"Yet personal considerations like just aren’t enough to blunt my scpeticism."
Typo alert, though it's an interesting evocation.
'making “remigration” a household world throughout the Federal Republic'

Europe can be reclaimed. National sovereignty is the path. Governments must follow the people to remain in power.
