It shows how to disable it, samples of what types of comments violate SS's "community standards" that all Stacks were default set to until authors discovered the change and disabled it, called "automatic moderation."
And the even bigger takeaway from the investigation is that SS's "community standards" they applied to comment sections are also in effect platform wide. Which makes Stacks like this one also hidden from users of the platform. Minus the "Stacks hidden" feature that individual blogs have for "replies hidden.' The proverbial 'forbidden fruit' temptation to peek behind the veil would be too powerful a draw.
So Stacks like this one are similarly shadow-banned. Takes specific searches to find it, those searching for Stacks on subjects they are interested in will not be notified that this one exists. No boosting or recommendations, I call it the Substack Ghetto. All unapproved by the official narrative Stacks that don't use proper DEI/Woke protocols, "deny" climate, vaccines, approved medical narratives, Ukraine wars, election integrity, use naughty words, challenge government authority, etc are In SS's Ghetto. And have been there since sometime in 2022-2024. As the EU's censorship laws took effect.
That's the big picture revelation of the censorship of comments 'feature' informs us of.
An ethical objection to editing a past remark occurs when it has replies or is otherwise known to have been read. A workaround is to amend by adding a comment. Another workaround is to edit the comment so as to make the edition obvious and explicit. Some commenters edit so as to make their editions honest and "transparent" anyway.
Substack automatically indicates when a comment has been edited after posting _as this one was_.
The SUBSTANCE of a comment should not be changed after the fact as a matter of commenting ETIQUETTE* if to do so undercuts the point of the reply. Otherwise, it's perfectly proper and indeed good practice for the benefit of later readers to fix typos, factual errors etc. not implicated in any reply.
The substance of any non-trivial edits (e.g. changing factual statements or data) should preferably be indicated in the edited comment.
*I wouldn't quite raise this point of commenting etiquette to the level of an "ethical objection."
Be warned. It still operates on mine even when disabled. I have no idea what Substack are doing. Word on the street is it will ultimately remove the ability to disable it, so your comments will be "moderated" whether you like it or not.

The AI summarized a thread w/ a lot of circus people about my (deceased) sister, who decided it would be lucrative after 911 to make and sell Osama Bin Laden toilet paper at events in the San Francisco area, and she railroaded all her circus and writing students into helping her do this, which, then, was a pretty standard normal response, but I realized the invasive summarizing AI might easily red flag this as who knows what. I don't think we have any privacy at all, and gmail or Gemini might be reading all the mail anyway, but it just felt like engulfing doppleganging tech. I just thought better to go to another email program just in case or at least not to feel violated, which we all feel pretty much hourly. Glad you didn't set that feature up. I'm really careful not to say anything against, for instance, the beautiful German marshmallow woman etc. so you don't get flagged, especially w/ the crazed C.J. Hopkins persecution being so relentless.

Here is what I don't understand. Why should those in power in Germany fear a victory by the AfD in Sachen-Anhalt when all they have to do is rig the ballot box to get the result that they want? That is how most elections in the US are determined although increasingly many in the US are sick of all the election fraud we are exposed to. Of course electoral cheating is morally reprehensible but that does not stop those for whom the only thing that matters is winning. As Yosef Stalin once put it, it is not the votes that count but who counts the votes.

But unlike the other parties they can't leave a permanent wooden cabin in the town square - an electoral tradition - as it would be burned down, with the media covering it up or celebrating.
Anyway, my point is: Even in Sweden an anti-immigration party gets more of a break these days than the AfD in Germany.
And note what happens when the AfD does like so many other parties, sucking up to the leftist media by placing immigrants and other favored groups in top positions. They made a homosexual woman the party leader - TOTALLY because she was the most qualified person, right, not for propaganda purposes? What tdo the media give the AfD for that? Nothing. They don't have to. They can simply ignore it. No one in Sweden knows that about the AfD. And the media simply ignore that the SD include Jews and suck up to their racial interests at every turn, and still compare them to Hitler.
SD members have endured the same terrorism as other immigration critics. They have to keep their identities hidden, but some have to be public, and others are doxed by hackers in organizations that receive tax-payers' money. People have lost their jobs, had their careers ruined, and their cars are burned. Their homes are attacked. Communists break into people's homes at night and attack them - the media cover this up. If the members live high up in an apartment building the communists will wait outside. And your name is demonized on the internet. That ruins the chances of young men to find a girlfriend, or even to find friends. It ruins the social life of a student. Sweden's government had a TV monopoly until the 1990s, so that only socialist propaganda was shown. Two government channels ran one news programs each to give the illusion of choice. Just like you'd have two different newspapers in a communist state. The government also had a monopoly on schools and universities. The LO, the labor union joined to the hip to the social democrats, receives enormous sums every year in "organization support." They give a lot of this "support" to the social democrat party, whose regime gave it to them from the taxpayers. Clever, isn't it?

Anyway, my point is: Even in Sweden an anti-immigration party gets more of a break these days than the AfD in Germany.
And note what happens when the AfD does like so many other parties, sucking up to the leftist media by placing immigrants and other favored groups in top positions. They made a homosexual woman the party leader - TOTALLY because she was the most qualified person, right, not for propaganda purposes? What tdo the media give the AfD for that? Nothing. They don't have to. They can simply ignore it. No one in Sweden knows that about the AfD. And the media simply ignore that the SD include Jews and suck up to their racial interests at every turn, and still compare them to Hitler.
SD members have endured the same terrorism as other immigration critics. They have to keep their identities hidden, but some have to be public, and others are doxed by hackers in organizations that receive tax-payers' money. People have lost their jobs, had their careers ruined, and their cars are burned. Their homes are attacked. Communists break into people's homes at night and attack them - the media cover this up. If the members live high up in an apartment building the communists will wait outside. Or if not, they will put up stickers with the picture of the "nazist" on the window to the entrance, and all around the neighborhood.
And your name is demonized on the internet. That ruins the chances of young men to find a girlfriend, or even to find friends. It ruins the social life of a student. People will avoid them to avoid becoming targets themselves, with the socialists spewing the hatred that their ideology is built on and their tax-funded media encourage.
Sweden's government had a TV monopoly until the 1990s, so that only socialist propaganda was shown. Two government channels ran one news programs each to give the illusion of choice. Just like you'd have two different newspapers in a communist state. The government also had a monopoly on schools and universities. The LO, the labor union joined to the hip to the social democrats, receives enormous sums every year in "organization support." They give a lot of this "support" to the social democrat party, whose regime gave it to them from the taxpayers. Clever, isn't it?
The SD, and the "right-wing" government it supports today, has not changed this. As usual they are too afraid to actually change anything. The punishment for rape and murder is still laughably low - and gang rapists who are not yet eighteen years old still escape punishment. They instead watch "a movie about equality," created by some tax-funded socialist organization. The SD was taken over by a gang who managed to get a majority in the board of directors in 2003, a majority of just one vote. They used this to throw out large numbers of people who opposed them. Their strategy since then has been to lean on those in the party who want to "integrate" immigrants, saying that "as long as they learn Swedish and dress like Swedes, then they are Swedes." In other words the same strategy as the socialists, just with the wish that local government don't give tax money to a soccer team with the word "Syrian" in the name. But when the local government is taken over by immigrants, who you say should not be expelled, then fat chance. The SD includes Kurds and Jews who say their priority is Kurds and Israel, and as usual when a handful of Jews join an anti-immigration party that others got off the ground, they seek out key positions and declare that "RACISTS" must be expelled from the party - including those who founded it.
