Across all of human politics, the Western liberal tradition stands out for its ambitions to circumscribe state power. The people, in this tradition, are held to be the locus of sovereignty, and most Western governments are bound by elaborate constitutions which purport to constrain their jurisdiction over citizens, and which many regard as bearing a nearly religious authority. In Germany, an entire government agency, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, is granted wide powers to hunt down potential constitutional enemies. These constitutions do many things. They extend a wide of variety of rights not only to citizens, but often to all of humanity. They often divide state powers by placing the judicial, executive and legislative branches of government in quasi-independent silos, hoping that each of these branches will defend their respective prerogatives from depredations by the others and, in the process, impose self-interested checks on the reach and the arbitrary exercise of power.

In the past, I might not put much thought into the flag. I just see it as away to acknowledge the community. In recent years, I am beginning to see it as a symbol that there is a storm coming. The flag is a symbol that is dividing communities.
It's all very weird and very recent. Not homosexual and lesbian people - been around forever. But all the totally mad stuff like men putting on frocks and saying they're women and people agreeing. Or cutting off bits of a body to make the illusion go further. All very weird and suspicious. The hippy-dippy crowd from the 1960s are now grandparents and they don't even understand what the rainbow flag is for, let alone approve of it. Who actually approves of any of this? The teeny tiny percentage of the population who participate in it all who would mostly have been diagnosed with some sort of mental disorder a few years ago. Plus world governments and transnational corporations. Very weird. Mega-distraction from Real Life Bad Stuff.
I have been pushing back hard on the LBTQ.... +- flag by saying that the US flag represents everyone. If they fly that flag then we fly the BLM flag, we fly the Catholic flag, the Satan flag, we fly any damned flag we make up because they are meaningless. The flag for me represents the splintering of people and the “labeling” of others, this perverse cycle of people self-labeling (gay, trans, he, she/it -I use that last one a lot), they claim they don’t want to be discriminated against, have rights, etc, but then illogically they harmfully label everyone else as racist, misogynistic, terf, blah blah. These are mostly rather stupid people who are spouting this stuff as they don’t see the full circle.
Right now I’m watching carefully to see what nations are pushing back on these crazy people- it’s the “bad guys” who are doing the best job, Russia, China, India... I don’t see how this rectifies itself unless within the liberal parties this hysteria dies out and they put out the flames themselves. Right now it’s terrifying that a minority has our nations by the neck and most are too meek to speak up.
It’s also interesting to see the small differences between Germany and the US, but ultimately it is a completely parallel course. Is this movement helping to brainwash the youth? How organized is it? They seem to lurch between various faux outrages between black/race, migrants, sexual gender. It does appear to be one group, though. In the US these fake activists do seem to have organized while Obama was in power.
"Pride Month" seems to be a solution to a problem that no longer exists. In my most cynical moments, I see this as a fund-raising preservation program. With gay rights and gay marriage achieved, the activists need a new cause/crusade so they can keep their fund-raising jobs.
Enter "transgender rights," a cult of the mentally ill and vulgar exhibitionists.
From the podium on inauguration day, I fervently hope the next president will issue an executive order banning all but the USA flag from government buildings, embassies, and military bases.
There are two reasons the LGBTQ+ community is using the rainbow as their symbol:
1) Blasphemy is their bread and butter: for them the bigger an insult to God can be the more highly it is regarded.
2) The intention from the rainbow symbolism is to transform the world, on their terms this time, into a gender-less, Godless, wicked society. They covet and strive to birth unnatural abominations into this world and to normalize them as an affront to the creator because they hate God and all He created that is good, right and true. They live to normalize the unnatural and to corrupt sacred innocence.
None of this is organic. It is a demoralization and economic destruction campaign designed to bring western nations to their knees:

The solution is a free press and eternal vigilance, but they’ve subverted the press, destroyed the educational system, and
the majority of the complacent population is in a trance of “rights” translated into hedonism without limits, personal and special victim group entitlement, and a waning sense of personal responsibility. Somehow all this anomie is still coupled with the absolute illusion of security.
I’d still rather live in the West than under say Soviet Communism. But that distinction is rapidly disappearing in the current era, as these asshats destroy their own countries. Mostly what we are seeing is what the West has done around the world in the past to poorly behaved vassal states, now being done internally. In the US they ruined a democratically elected presidency, then stole the next election.,They’ve done the coup. Now they’re consolidating power.

I refer to the growing alphabet soup of this "community" as LGBTQWERTY, as it makes just as much sense as any other word salad they might dream up.
Here in the US, the trans movement, in my opinion, is the beginning of the wedge that leftists intend to use to put the state between parents and children, with the ultimate goal of all US children becoming wards of the state.
Your point about mutual checks and balances being rendered void by the uniformity of the elites is new to me, and helps me understand my biggest question: How come there are absolutely no differences in opinions anymore within the elites, and thus, no discussions at all?
It seems this process needed some time; in the 80s, it was much different. Lively discussion and the political parties were different. You can still see TV discussions on YT with different opinions, intelligent voiced. Impossible today.
But now, the soft Gleichschaltung has been completed.
The other very good point you make is the switch from fundamental rights given to every human, which are mainly rights that curb the state, to state-sponsored entitlements.
This was hard for me to understand: How is it possible that the state becomes more and more totalitarian in the name of freedom and tolerance?
The rainbow coalition is such a great example because many of the followers are so noisy and so clearly insane. But the Corona years showed that it is not only a minority that descends into totalitarianism, but it is the "sane" majority (the sensible center):

I have no doubt that, in time, the majority would have also agreed with camps and violently enforced medications.
