You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. You can lead a journalist to facts, but you can’t make them think.

Definitely. It would have been *much* worse otherwise.

The devolution of vaxx spokemouths, from authoritative proclamations -- THOU SHALT TAKE THE VAXX OR THOU SHALT DIE -- to this insane and pathetic pilpul -- well you see if we look at the seven day incidence rate averaged over time and ignore any confounding variables then we can finally determine how many angels can dance on the head of a pin -- is the only thing about the Coronadoom spectacle that I have actually enjoyed.

way back when the vaccines were "new", a listener wrote in to This Week in Virology podcast to ask how she could convince her grandmother in Ireland to take the vaccines. Rich Condit, Professor Emeritus at University of Florida Department of Molecular Genetics & Microbiology, College of Medicine, answered "tell your grandmother she has two choices: she gets the vaccine or she gets covid and dies!"

i found that oddly unhelpful.

a year later he admitted, rather sheepishly, that everyone would eventually have vaccine "immunity" or natural immunity from surviving an infection

I had a moment yesterday: a conversation that felt so 2021. I was accused, by a couple I know for already a decade, for lacking solidarity by not being jabbed. You know I am a burden for the health care system and what not. They are actually not stupid at all and also in many other aspects very kind persons. But they genuinely believe that they have the right to dictate to other people what to do. To add to the absurdity of the situation she is morbidly obese and he is a very heavy drinker and a smoker. They are by no means an exception in Germany. Maybe even the majority but this is a speculation.

I wonder if it is a social network kind of thing, that people now seem to have this idea that they are eligible to prescribe what the others should do. This is just ridiculous. It feels much more common that it was before but this might as well be my subjective perception. The greens are telling me to not eat meat, not travel and put up with all sorts of restrictions, the socialists expect from me more solidarity in terms of ridiculously high taxes, the christian democrats often disagree but pressed from 'the circumstances' end up implementing exactly the unified agenda of both evils.

They will not stop with their attempt to control life until life shakes them off.

Bootsorourke's avatar

sometimes people are just good at pretending to be nice.

and if anyone is a burden on society it's the obese...

They have finally told you who they really are

Never trust them!

Georgi's avatar

+1

Exactly, with their lifestyle they are a real burden but fail to see the obvious.

They actually know it but use extra mental energy to suppress it, because it hurts. Arguments won't help here. It is an unconscious decision what to believe. As someone said, you cannot wake up the ones that are not asleep but rather pretend very hard to be asleep. I just wonder how to overcome this ridiculous state of mind which is everywhere around. Those pity journos, that Eugyppius is writing about are basically in the same situation. They firmly believe in what they are desperately trying to prove. Accepting the opposite will negate their last two years of supporting the narrative. They just desperately try to avoid the pain.

Can we somehow give them the chance to be the heroes who will uncover the great lie of the vaccinators? They might take this ramp off the train wreck

Bootsorourke's avatar

a very kind take on that imho.

Just remember, if they ever come to round up the unvaccinated, these people you feel so sorry for will have no qualms turning you in, they are talking behind your back in the meantime.

Georgi's avatar

yes, I totally agree with you. They associate themselves with their beliefs and would certainly throw me under the bus if needed. It is a strange mental state and we have to learn to 'un-hypnotise' those people - at some point it could be someone we truly love or even us who is hypnotised.

Bootsorourke's avatar

I think to turn on people like that, there has to be a deficit in personality that seems harmless or invisible until something happens.

Again, be careful.

San's avatar

Reminds me of the movie, “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”

Kristiina's avatar

Thank you, this is very wisely said. How to help find/present/offer off-ramps for those who are able to take it? And then those who are unable to perceive where the train is headed? This is the horror, that I wish I could somehow unsee. People who think they bought a ticket to normal-land by their obedience, and the evidence of being seriously duped just keeps piling up, and there is an inability to cut losses and take off-ramp, and they just keep investing more of their hopes into their ticket to normal-land. I wish I could help but I have no idea how.

At this point, listening to shills and hacks is just an opportunity to practice critical thinking skills. So they are of some service. They keep us sharp as they remain dull.

"In conspiracy-theory circles, people are already fantasising about “negative efficacy”, especially with regard to booster vaccinations, saying that the figures amount to proof that the vaccines are ineffective. "

I wonder when people will be allowed to talk about vaccine escape. I saw this article in science (pre-Covid) freely discussing vaccine escape with flu vaccines. https://www.science.org/content/article/why-flu-vaccines-so-often-fail

INGRID C DURDEN's avatar

I think it is high time to give up on vaccines, which seem to be failing most of the time, and start thinking about healing. Vaccines can damage and that is not what a doctor should do. Most natural healing methods are refused by doctors, 1, they are too cheap and 2, then you will get healthy 3, once you know what to use you don't need the doctor anymore

Crixcyon's avatar

If you want true healing, avoid all big pharma drugs, vaccines and mRNA injections and keep the medical system as your last option.

INGRID C DURDEN's avatar

that is exactly what I have been doing for the last 45 years. Had two surgeries, and may be 5 or 6 times when I could not get by with my concoctions. The last time, the doctor was wrong too and did not provide the hoped for solution.. Could not avoid the jabs when I came to this country, or should I say, I had no idea I could. I also had no idea one needed to be jabbed to become a legal citizen of this country.

Another anonymous's avatar

It will be called "immune escape", and we know what the promoted solution will be.....

John Davison's avatar

Agree.

The term, "Vaccine failure" would seem to be more appropriate - but that would never do...

Susan James's avatar

Thank you - that's really interesting.

Great window on similarities and differences between influenza and covid vax, as well as pre-2020-speak and post-2019-speak.

Dr. Michael Osterholm on lacklustre flu vaccines: "I know less about influenza today than I did 10 years ago."

Vax escape through culture errors: “The most common influenza vaccine contains an "inactivated" virus, which manufacturers grow in chicken eggs. As Skowronski's team first reported in 2014, the virus can mutate while it is growing in the eggs, resulting in a vaccine unable to block circulating strains.”

Original antigenic sin: “Hensley's group has shown that the immune system is also biased by a child's first exposure to flu, which leaves a ghost that affects responses to subsequent vaccines…. Immunologist Rafi Ahmed at Emory University in Atlanta last year reported that long-lived memory B cells to flu, which produce antibodies, can crowd out B cells that would otherwise respond to novel infections.”

Portent of 2021-22 narrative: “The best strategy remains to get a vaccine every year. This is especially true for the elderly or immune-compromised people: Even if a vaccine fails to prevent infection, they MAY suffer less severe disease if immunized.” - My emphasis on "may."

San's avatar

And my dear amazing Mom who ONLY had one quackcene her entire life (she refused the constant push for the flu vaxxx) lived to be almost 96 & only on high blood pressure med & a baby aspirin a day. If she were still alive today she would be saying, “Good grief, what is this world coming to?”

INGRID C DURDEN's avatar

It also may cause you to be sicker than usual. I think it was the winter of 2008-2009 when (only) Canada was honest enough to report that the jabbed were sicker from this mild flu than the non jabbed. I also read from several people whose family members on doctor's advice took the jabs, and a few weeks later fell sick with flu. and Vaers reports about 80 or so deaths every year from the jabs.

Michael Patterson's avatar

Great info. I've never taken a flu or covid shot as I'm healthy and under age 70, maintain a strong immune system, don't fuss about catching a cold (got covid-fever few weeks ago), and, most importantly, almost always do the reverse of what pHARMa companies, government bureaucrats, and captured corporate meda tell me I must do for the general good.

INGRID C DURDEN's avatar

you will probably live a long and healthy life ! Even with a sprained ankle I did opposite of what doc advised. He said keep in strong bandage and hot baths. He left, I immediately unwound the bandage and took hot and cold baths. He thought it would take about a month. Two weeks later I was back at work. Never told him of course, that I reversed his advise. He could not believe how quickly I was back up and going. Never had sore in foot either, whereas a sprain in my hand at 10 years old is still sore now and then.

Michael Patterson's avatar

Brett Weinstein wrote in his and Heather Heying's latest book that there is some data (mostly anecdotal?) that broken bones can heal better and faster without being immobilized in casts or orthotics. See p. 69 of "A Hunter Gatherer's Guide" and rest of Chapter 4.

INGRID C DURDEN's avatar

that book is on my list of to buy. Nature shows it is true. My cat broke a leg years ago, took him 3 weeks to heal. Sunlight, rest, food, sleep.

BlueWing58's avatar

Interesting article.

Graham Stull's avatar

It's almost enjoyable to see this play out, especially for those of us who have looked at the data for nearly a year now and have seen the signals emerging. I do wonder, though, whether the sheer breadth of the buy-in will frustrate any real attempts to make these now obvious conclusions publicly accepted / acceptable, and whether any meaningful lessons will be drawn from all this.

CaliforniaLost's avatar

At least Germany is talking about negative efficacy. Out here in the People's Republic of California, the "media" (which is really the propaganda arm of the Democrats) is still telling us that all the unvaxxed are gonna die, alone, unloved, because we haven't been purified by Pfizer.

I am still shocked (yes, even after over 2 years) that someone would write this:

"...is that there is no scientifically sound reason to assume that a high vaccination rate could be partly responsible for a high incidence." --This is demonstrably false, and easy to prove with multitple studies, unless the real quibble word is "partly". Because, as has been shown iver the last year, the vax isn't partly, but wholly responsible for the increase in infection.

Oregonian's avatar

I was just in NorCal. Public billboards proclaim that unvaxxed are 30x more likely to die of COVID. And please vaccinate your children. Surreal.

CaliforniaLost's avatar

Yep, which is why the Legislature is trying to pass laws to protect themselves from all the lies and data manipulation. Gavin Newsom has some major motivation to become President to keep his ass out of prison; and all the Deep State will fight for him, they don't want to face the civil and criminal liability that will be theirs when fraud is proven.

SocialismAlwaysFails's avatar

That article is amazing. They throw up a bunch of alternative hypothesis and actually spend the time to debunk them all.

Only at the end to declare in the Great Wizard of Oz's voice -- that despite the patently obvious fact that it happening -- there is "no scientifically sound reason" that the vaccine could be causing the continual cases of later omicron variations only amongst the vaccinated.

[ and yes if they were to look behind their curtain, they might find there is a lot of science on why an injection of specifically designed mRNA fragments targeting an exact protein spike could be (and actually was) evaded by a quickly mutating virus while it doesn't escape the multi-layered "natural immunity" process which had been honed over millions of years ]

eugyppius's avatar

I know, bizarrely incompetent debunking that actually leaves the reader thinking there must be something to the debunked thesis after all.
