During the pandemic, our leaders claimed to act on behalf of the health concerns of the oldest and the sickest, effectively reducing all of Germany to a farcical authoritarian care home for the immuno-compromised.
You are the best writer on Germany in the world. What is buried deep in the German psyche that causes such madness and conformity? All the Germans I have met abroad are such NPCs about the current thing.
You are probably right about the German psyche but this is only part of the story. At bottom this is the particular German manifestation of something with roots common to the whole of the West. What?.....around 50 years ago all the West's future professional, managerial, creative-media and administative elites began to emerge from a rite-of-passage in tertiary education sheep-dipped in a leftist 'social justice' religion. These people now run everything and mis-manage everything drunk on their own smug narcissism and self-righteousness.
So true. Yes, you said it very fast and surely there are other factors as well. But sheep and dipped are key.
Which begs two questions:
- after all the reality, why such sheep?
- why did the universities become dipping stations?
A partial answer to why they remain sheep has been identified. To say it fast: they live in a self-reinforcing bubble. And the bubble is led by “useful idiots”, eg, the “press” who also make themselves fact-checkers.
I believe this is a nice example of the fallacy of ignoratio elenchi. Your point is irrelevant to the remark you're responding to. Unless you're claiming that university graduates must always be sheep. Believe me, the character of universities has definitely changed for the worse in the last 50 years or so.
Good times create weak people. Since 1950, the West has never had it so good in terms of material prosperity, mostly thanks to fossil fuels and technology. If weak people create hard times then only strong people (in the best sense) can bring back the good times.
BINGO! Change some of the specifics in the article like place names, people involved, some minor details, etc. but the bottom line is the same things are going on in Canada, the US, the UK, France, and so on. The narrative everywhere is the same.
It's almost like there's a directed plan or something...
An excerpt: "The elephant in the liberal democratic room - is that power gained at the ballot box is no match against the permanently entrenched power of a ‘progressive’ elite that has been drawn - for three or more highly impressionable college years - through a kind of intellectual sheep dip.
The academy’s pied-piper hold on the ambitious young minds of the future ‘opinion-forming’ elite – including crucially the teaching profession - has proceeded unchecked, such that its seductive virtue-signalling mentality has now taken hold in most graduate-entry professional walks of life. And an Academia-Media Complex - a feedback loop between an overwhelmingly left-wing academy and a largely left-wing MSM – has softened up enough of what used to be called ‘the workers’ to keep the Progressive show on the road."
Virtue-signalling has come to occupy the minds of about half of the Western world. It functions like the Borg, or Invasion of the Body Snatchers and suddenly it becomes too late to turn them back.
As women gained equality in the workplace, they were promoted to positions of power in Academia and then politics. Certainly there are benefits from having a woman's perspective in life and politics. But maternal and emotional instincts can eventually turn destructive.
Angela Merkel was initially a sensible German leader who held moderate views on immigration. Activists staged a media event where Merkel was ambushed with a crying refugee girl who feared being deported. Merkel initially tried to explain that it was not practical for Europe to absorb all of the people who wanted to come. But the girl's tears got to Merkel and she couldn't take the heat. Merkel instantly pivoted to 'War Schaffen das' and opened the gates of all of Europe to immigration without limits. Merkel's leadership failure will have everlasting consequences for Europe.
In the U.S. Feeble Joe Biden has managed to one-up Merkel's weakness. Mexican cartels are charging immigrants upwards of $10,000 per soul for delivery to the Southern border of the U.S. That does not include the robbery, rape and beatings administered. Biden has created a Hundred Billion dollar industry in human trafficking by simply refusing to do the job he took an oath to perform.
This is only one example of how good intentions, marketed as 'caring' can produce the most disastrous results. Homelessness, drug addiction, and violent crime are all on the rise in the U.S. because of social policies that are entirely devoid of common sense. Funded by Soros, the WEF and your taxes toward the destruction of civilized life in the Western world. This is no enlightenment. It is just another Globalist Oligarch's ruse.
Looks like we see things in a similar way. It's good that you say "occupy the minds of about half of the Western world" because Yes that has been the result of the massive expansion of 'higher education' in recent decades - (the university-sheep-dip I call it). But many conservative commentators, in my opinion, make the mistake of trying to blame the whole Wokeness madness off on just a small so-called ruling 'elite' rather than face up to the harder fact that it has now become the mentality of tens (maybe hundreds) of millions of the middle class in all Western countries.
The Woke brain-slug has become widespread but it is also true that the WEF's Young Leaders program has spread the gospel of Globalism far and wide. The Papal Patriarchy of the past has been upstaged by the modern Marxist Matriarchy. But the poor, demoralized fools haven't grasped that the Oligarchs are still holding the puppet strings.
It seems to be a certain percentage of White Anglo-Saxons, not just Humans. There are plenty of non-white Humans who are not committing social suicide for feels. Too many in the West have embraced a guilt psychology which has led to mass immigration and the eventual destruction of the West.
What is ironic about that? It's exactly what anyone who is learned should expect. "Whiteness" and the word "white" as you use them are words rooted in modern 20th century Western liberal attitudes, so what other people should we expect this concept from?
Before the 20th century, "white" and "black" were relative descriptors and had been this way for pretty much all of history in all places to where one easily finds descriptions of black English (meaning swarthy and darker in complexion and skin colour relative to nearby people), or white Africans (meaning lighter in complexion and skin colour relative to nearby people), much to the confusion of the modern reader.
Of course, any view on a concept created by the people of a particular time and place, unique to that people, time, and place, will be a concept unique to that people, time, and place. That is exactly what you would expect, not ironic.
"One of the saddest things about the modern world is that people live in a tiny time slice which they carry forward with them. Nothing remains. The centuries to them are completely dark. Just unillumined corridors through which they stagger into a single little sliver of light."—Roger Scruton
The Anglo-Saxons have nothing to do with it, and I have no idea why people take such pleasure in the Orwellian rewriting of history and defilement of past people by comparing modern people to them despite people today having nothing in common with them, and of course even the places that claim descent from them have no meaningful relation whatsoever as they are from a time long enough ago as to have many billions of descendants by simple arithmetic.
"Anglo-Saxon" is not a modern ethnicity, but a historical culture, and it is certainly not one that would "commit social suicide for the feelings", embrace a "guilt psychology", nor complain openly in a non-productive manner about others that do such things. Why does this newspeak manage to persist unnoticed the way it does? It's as meaningful as calling the Greeks, Anatolians, Maecdonians, Bulgarians, and so on "Rhomaioi".
You who do such things are among the foremost destroyers of "the West" as you spit upon the cultural legacies of people with whom you share nothing but geography, who you do not honour in any way but especially not with your grievances against others and their lack of virtue. Of course even the geographical relation is scarce, not even our geography resembles that of their time very much, at least not to one knowledgeable of the medieval geography of places like England, Denmark, or Germany, where the ancient forests and marshlands that characterise them are nowhere to be found and whole rivers and islands are missing.
Same in Australia- a foolish left wing Marxist government beholden to the greens and a bunch of rich privileged women, an ex rugby player and an ignorant ex soldier. It seems we eject fools. Our right wing g conservatives are not nearly strong enough or united to make much of a difference.
'rich privileged women' according to Camille Paglia, and speaking from personal experience, are the most miserable people on the face of the earth. Ironic, because they possess everything that others strive for. It is worth keeping in mind that no matter how many resources are devoted to immigration, climate-'change,' race-baiting, or pronouns, it will never be enough.
True. They all look miserable when they are shaking their fingers at us telling us how to live our lives. Constantly vying fur attention in the parliament with seriously no power at all except to disrupt.
Clearly not referring to all women. There are many great ones and many who don't fall for the con. But the globalists know whose buttons they can push and always target women through emotions, above all fear first. It is cowardly and underhanded but the technique works for them.
A post-Hitlerian hyper moralism characterised by faux compassion for specific groups of those deemed powerless, weaponised aspirational victimhood, and a scapegoating of the "right" as the source of all evil.
Something like this is buried deep in the essence of the present zeitgeist. But the rubber is meeting the road in material and spiritual ways becoming harder to ignore. As such, it may only be a matter of time before older gods are awakened. And not just in Germany. The Narrative™️ is under pressure across the Rainbow Reich once known as "the West".
Part of it is because we Germans have been stunted spiritually. A truncated soul can only produce lopsided consciousness. See my essay here: https://luctalks.substack.com/p/the-german-soul
Germany is not alone in the steady erosion of religious beliefs with secular beliefs. At least in Europe, including Germany church bells are still heard on Sundays. I never hear church bells anymore and in any part of the U.S. Homelessness and drug-addiction have soared while religion has declined. People are suffering from this without knowing what hit them.
Max Weber's disenchantment strikes again. You can't live in an imaginary abstract world where all you acknowledge is cold causality, reductionism, and automata.
My German mom had a saying she said her mother my Oma taught her “Nobless Oblige”. Was before the war and they lived in Frankfurt and were well off then but her mother would take her as a young child weekly into the houses of the poor and impoverished which sounded pretty awful as she described them, none-the-less she would have to go as her mother insisted on it and they would help out where needed.
The kindness and good citizenship of the German people is practically never written about. At least in English. Most of what is written in English about Germans is cartoonish propaganda. Both the British and Americans who write about Germany should first take a good, long, hard look in the mirror.
Agreed! My mom was an exceptional very strong and very independent German woman. I have nothing but very fond memories of my grandparents and two great aunts whom she actually left me with for a year, whenever my mom took me with her to Germany to visit first her parents, then she went alone to visit her two aunts Tante Irmel and Tante Gustel once her mother my Oma was gone. I have never met anyone like my mother here in Canada, I looked up to her and respected her like no other and hope I have even a little piece of her in me because she was so strong and my best friend all of my life once I grew up. She spoke truth, she spoke plainly, she didn’t care what others thought about her, and she was the glue that held our family together and got us through the bad times. My father was British, had been a major in the army and had likewise survived the war, but he chose her for her strength and for her loyalty, she was loyal to a fault. I admire the German people based on who my mother was, very intelligent and very intellectual, attended a top girls boarding school til the war broke out, was fluent in at least 4 languages and knew some other dialects as well, well travelled and well read, oh God how I miss her! She just passed in June of last year.
Why would it be expected to? Anything and everything that people do is the result of the choices made by the people doing it. Earlier in my life, most people sat in a church on Sunday or Saturday. For at least one hour, they had to ponder something other than the pursuit of wealth or pleasure that they spent the rest of the week engaged in. It is fine if you are happy without it. But many people among the masses of people have lost something practical and useful in their lives. When I looked around in those earlier days, I rarely saw the kind of human suffering that is now widespread in the developed world.
So many of those wars were on European land between clashing sects. One can blame the leaders, but the populace needs to be held to account. What makes people kill each other over transubstantiation?
There is a tradition that is neither materialist and reductionist, nor religious in the usual sense. It's where the interesting intellectual currents are. German pre-war thought has been very strong here. Alas, not anymore, although there seems to bit of a revival.
Why should any religious persuasion force its rituals on the general population? I don't want to hear church bells or the muezzin's call to prayer either. Nothing prevents people from reminding themselves of the time for the devotional observances of their choice.
OK for you to force your secular beliefs on the general population by shutting down the sounds of church bells. When I am in moslem countries I expect to hear the call to prayer and don't find it offensive in any way. Other religions have their horns and other musical variations of communication. You can always cover your ears. Why the need for hate?
Muslim countries are theocratic societies. America was founded on the ideals of the Western Enlightenment which evolved *from* Christianity and established secular civil society in which all private religious beliefs were respected. In this nation--which is not Europe--the citizen should not be obliged to cover his ears from religious intrusions.
That is not hate. It is common sense and respect for the individual and his rights.
A crying baby is an intrusion. But it would make so sense to outlaw children. Noisy protests and road races that take over city streets might disturb your sleep. But you have to live with other people and what they may like and want. Is your Secularism the supreme religion, which all others must yield to?
Thank you for your essay - I was very moved and interested in Max Planck’s answer to Werner Heisenberg, it very much resonated with me, a great piece of writing.
Yes, his reasoning is very interesting, especially in light of what's going on today. Remarkable how history becomes more intelligible against the current background. And thank you.
His answer very much put me in mind of what is going on today - needless to say to anyone who reads Eugyppius’s substack, I am very worried about what is going on in the west and what the wicked Davos lot will come up with next. I live in the U.K. and our covid ‘rules’ weren’t as stringent as they were in some places. I never wore a mask anywhere and was never challenged except by very silly nitwit members of the public. Never took a ‘vax’, either and was never pestered by the nhs after a single ‘invitation’ (although I am retired and so not subjected to mandates as a few were in this country. But...I don’t trust any government now, (and didn’t much in the past). It’s fair to say I am actually afraid of the nearly inevitable Labour government due to take over this year...Gas boiler bans; net zero, on-going illegal and legal immigration in huge numbers...the future fills me with dread, especially as I have a daughter and grandson living in France. Vaccine passports or ‘climate catastrophe’ lockdowns would break my heart, which is near broken anyway, since 2020.
I think it's good to be prudent and think ahead, and yes, there's enough dread. But we should also remember that things always go in unexpected ways, presenting new challenges we can't anticipate. I try to see all this as an opportunity to rise to those challenges, find new solutions, and being open for positive surprises. We will come out on the other side better, I'm sure.
We should remember too that history is a cycle and not a road forward. Nothing new is happening even if the latest technological toys may fool people into thinking so.
Starting with Martin Luther, the German people have always needed some sort of religious or quasi-religious cause to bring fulfillment to their lives. German culture is strong on the suppression of emotions, and an emphasis on rationality and control. I believe that these quasi-religious ideologies are a psychological means of dealing with this suppression. Just my opinion. The Germans are the only people I know who would violently protest for non-violence and not see the irony.
Germans have a civilizational deathwish and are in the process of atoning themselves out of existence. They are always most extreme in their conformity and believe it's beyond gauche, even Hitlerish, to actually stick up for their own people and homeland.
At least half the country would vote today for the Morgenthau Plan, as long as it came with organic fair-trade sackcloths and ashes.
Yes, but how much of that is of themselves, as opposed to the post-war power structure and the black legend it perpetrates? "Denazification" is a project that never ends, and logically leads its victims to that death wish, since any pushback becomes synonymous with "Nazism."
A similar dynamic goes on in America with "affirmative action" as a remedy to the injustices of slavery and Jim Crow, since any resistance to that is instantly "racism."
In either case, eradication of the ethnicity of the atoning people is the only possible outcome, unless the perpetrators of these institutionalized guilt-trips are recognized as the enemy and thrown off.
In the post-60s West, political atonement (for the crimes and oppression of our ancestors) has taken the place of religious atonement (and rituals involving confession and absolution), esp for the young, secular, educated and middle class.
Humans have a craving for the binding effects of religion and for the cohesion, purpose and meaning provided by the Sacred, and will take it anywhere they can get it.
Social Justice is a Christian heresy (not in the sense of a rebuke but as an unapproved unofficial offshoot) and one way it seems to have manifested is in the children of the 21st century wanting to return/renounce all the many giifts inherited from the past, as a way to ease their guilty consciences while still feeling like righteous members of a spiritual Elect.
The Germans are extreme in this as they often are when it comes to new trends in Protestantism, but the rest of the West isn't far behind them.
Not all Germans. Only the Lutherans in the north. Not the Catholics in the south. As Bismarck observed, "A Bavarian is a cross between an Austrian and a man."
I always thought that an Austrian was across between a German and an Italian. The Catholics in the south are not as bad as the Lutherans in the North, but they are still worse than most other Europeans. My family in Germany is either hyper-catholic (older generation), hyper-socialist (my generation), or hyper-green (younger generation). Except for one black sheep who is an entrepreneur, I think they are all nuts.
You would know better than I. It will take more migrant atrocities and islamic terror to push German voters to the right, if that is even possible. Germany hasn't had a Right for 80 years.
Shame is the most destructive force in human development, and what nation has been shamed more than Germany? (Canada?? Please.) They have been allowed by their punishers to focus on only one negative aspect of their history and to shove all the positive into a mental attic behind a welded door. It is no wonder that they are committing ethnic suicide. That's the intent.
Germans are the archetypal NPC's from my experience as well. I think I only met one lady one time (from former East Germany) who at least acted like she had thoughts of her own. And I've been through Germany quite a few times.
'What is buried deep in the German psyche that causes such madness and conformity?' Germans have always been puzzling to outsiders and this may give the appearance of madness.
In terms of conformity, Germany lost over 2 million combatants in WW1 and 700,000 civilians. In WW2, over 5 million combatants and a nearly equal number of civilians. General Eisenhower permitted or facilitated the deaths of another million plus captured soldiers through malnutrition and neglect. A textbook war crime. Eisenhower seemed determined to ensure that there would never be another repeat of the two world wars. At least not involving Germany.
Those are massive losses of German men of fighting spirit. Further, all Germans were subjected to post-war re-programming (a.k.a brainwashing) called denazification. They were taught that they were morally inferior people for having murdered so many Jews and other enemies mainly in Concentration camps. That was after most German women had been gang raped and brutalized by advancing armies. Ethnic Germans were uprooted from Eastern European countries and deported to Germany to be further starved, humiliated and abused. Finally, Germany was separated into East and West, separate countries.
Considering the systematic destruction of young adult men between the two wars, Germany seems to have lost the vast majority of masculine-oriented men for a generation or more. Turkish men living in Germany will comment that all German men were neutered following WW2. No great surprise that women have come to dominate German politics today.
Politically, all right-wing thought was prohibited, while Communist ideology became the norm for East Germans. Even in the West, post-war Germans were safe to lean left but anything right wing was verboten. All symbols of WW2 Germany were banned and speech has also been strictly policed, to this day.
Working people in the West tended to align with left-wing politics and causes. It was the only permitted way to present as 'edgy.' Trade unions developed power and remain strong today. German partnerships between corporate management and unions are exemplary.
Left wing politics grew in Germany after WW1 and was put down by the rise of the Nazis. That script was flipped following WW2 and may explain why Germany has always struggled to develop a right-wing political movement until the AfD grew out of discontent with E.U. integration and economic bailouts for Greece and other poorer, struggling E.U. countries. Opposition to mass immigration was also a party platform pillar. The party has only existed since around 2013 but has doubled in size since then owing to discontent with the other traditional parties. Whenever the other parties want to kick the AfD, the Nazi smear is made.
Germans seem to have dealt with their post-war vilification in two ways. 1. They bought into Denazification and truly believed they were bad people. 2. They knew the truth about who they were but remained silent about it at all times. A kind of double-think. Once the war generation passed, the young people were left with a strong left wing ideology but all right-wing thought was considered to be Nazi.
The experience of the East and West Germans was quite different but the 1991 reunification now begins to fade after 30 years.
In addition to the post-war history, Germans have long been culturally predisposed toward conformity. They are a rational people and opposing the government has traditionally been viewed as unbalanced.
The AfD only represents about 1/3 of the people but it is growing faster than any other party. Nationalists, i.e. Trump voters in the U.S. approach almost 50% of the population. In both cases it is the excess and 'madness' of the Globalist elite, which is now in power in nearly all NATO countries, that has given rise to the opposition AfD as well as the Trump voter takeover of the Republican party in the U.S.
There is the theory that much of Western Europe is very obedient and conforming, because those people who were individualistic and non-conforming went to the USA in the 18 hundred.
And later in WW1, the more active, vital men were killed off. (This is especially true for the UK, were the officers died in vaster number than the enlisted men).
Now we are in Western Europe the offspring of the obedient, passive people.
---
Another viewpoint: Germany, and much of Western Europe, is still very comfortable, feels largely very secure. If you only ingest the MSM (and I know many people that do just that), it is easy to have the impression that we are basically living in a material paradise, which is threatened by the evil right, Putin, and CO2.
Not a bad theory. Once those Europeans arrived in North America, the truly restless and risk-taking types kept on pushing Westward. People with attention deficit and other brain chemistry differences, apart from the herd. That is why the Left Coast has so many wackos. But their creativity is world class. Stodgy types remained on the East Coast and no one can figure out the people in the midwest. It is as if they pushed Westward to a point where they inexplicably hunkered down and said, 'Not one inch further. We're staying.'
I love Europe for being somewhat frozen in time. And the fact that small things are different there. Like bathroom fixtures, cars, trains and languages. The coffee and pastry are much better. It troubles me to see a small clique who want to change everything there overnight. For nothing more than their own self-aggrandizement. And people can be conned everywhere. P.T. Barnum pointed that out.
I think many Germans and Scandinaviens are the very people who stayed in the Midwest, and also in the colder, inhospitable states. The original German is of the type who wants to be self-reliant and be left alone, somewhat closed to the outward world, e.g. the French or Italians with their merry ways...
Protestantism (= Luther) is the manifestation of that spirit. People like the Amish are the remnants of those who were very consequential about it.
I think Eugyppius lives in Bavaria, a place that exemplies this more than other parts of Germany.
The real Bavaria that is left is of course outside of the big cities, but it still shows that type of inner seclusion, which has its good sides and its bad.
The Midwest of the U.S. certainly attracted farmers from Scandinavia and Germany and those people also migrated to Texas and California. Conjunto music in Texas and Mexico is heavily influenced by the accordion, which was a German contribution to the Mexican and also self-reliant, cowboy culture. By the early 1900's Chicago drew immigrants from Eastern Europe and black Americans up from the Southern states. Today the Midwest is a mix of all of those cultures with the more recent addition of large numbers of Latinos from Central America. You can get an excellent, authentic tamale all around the Chicago area today.
In the USSR, the numbers of demonstration participants were typically ensured by every factory, office or educational establishment dispatching their quota of «demonstrators». In the last years of the regime, this often took caricatural form – for example, offering university students a choice between participating in the 1st of May demonstration or washing windows for a day.
to some extent it's a more explicit version of what's been happening in the States for quite a while now with the capture of so many anti-govt movements via shady non-profits etc.
It even worse here in USA because many of the anti-gov't demonstration are just FBI honeypots. E.g. the leader of the Proud Boys being a protected federal informant.
I've watched this and shudder in embarrassment at all those demonstrators who think they are the "decent ones" when demonstrating for an opposition party to be banned because Hitler. Cringe doesn't begin to cover it. They probably need a little more time in the German paradise. A few more rapes and murders, a few more job losses, a few more laws on how to wipe your bottom to save the planet. Stupid primitive f***ing idiots the lot of them. Sorry. Happy to be watching it all from a safe distance but it's still painful.
There is probably a huge overlap with the NCPs of the covid years who were willing to see the unvaccinated punished, fired, starved, forcibly injected bc politicians and media told them the unvaccinated were lacking in solidarity and out to kill Germany's grannies.
A reusable bin made by asylum seekers being paid fair post-colonial wages of €100 an hour to make up for historic inequalities, and if you complain you're Adolfs Hitler and Eichmann's love child.
Dear Germany -- Please extract your head from your ass and try to be a normal European nation -- if there is such a thing. Also, please stop taking instructions from "Joe Biden," or whoever is running the "Joe Biden Show."
I am surprised that it took Germans this long to speak up against what Scholz and Baerbock have done to country and economy. But let's not forget that it was Feeble Joe Biden who provoked Russia into attacking Ukraine. The other NATO nations were all mainly just along for the ride in Ukraine. Though they are all complicit by now.
Germany had friendly relations and successful trade with Russia that delivered low-cost Russian oil and gas to Germany. The Biden Regime took it upon itself to provoke the Ukraine war by funding and enabling a takeover of the pro-Russian Ukraine government back in 2014. Then the U.S. blew up the Nordstream pipeline to eliminate any viability of reuse. That is, the classic military technique of burning the boats, or the bridges such that retreat is no longer possible.
I would think that Germans have been stunned into disbelief at what has taken place since then. Deindustrialization, hyper-inflation, and the snowballing consequences of welfare costs for Ukrainians fleeing the war and many Germans driven to a personal economic crisis.
The farmer's protests are a healthy sign but now we see how the Scholz-Baerbock cabal is flooding the media zone with disinformation about AfD. Much like the Jan. 6 persecution through prosecution, Scholz is threatening ordinary Germans with legal jeopardy by proxy via the AfD vilification. Our host has every reason to remain anonymous. You and I have the freedom to speak openly about things that Germans must fear from their government. Or at least take steps to conceal their identity. Scholz's comments on the Potsdam Psy-Op are a direct threat to those who could receive legal action from the government to silence them.
What the German, French and Netherland's farmer's are doing now is formidable and courageous.
I supported and still support the Canadian Freedom Convoy, they, like the German, Dutch, Polish and hopefully soon French farmers were protecting their livelihoods and their families from government over-reach through Mandates on our personal health decisions. Still makes me mad as hell. The Canadian government is starting to harass our farmers and ranchers with threats to regulating the amount of fertilizer they can use. Government has to stay out of commerce; these politicians know not what they do. Canadians may be hitting the roads to protect our agricultural sector next, as are the European countries. This globalist/leftist attack on our abilities to feed ourselves must end. No bugs for me.
Agree with you entirely. In Orwell's Animal Farm the totalitarian pigs trained the dogs to intimidate and threaten the other animals. To name only three, Justin Trudeau, Annalena Baerbock and Jacinda Ardern were dogs that were trained by the Klaus Schwab pigs. All 3 have been elevated to high offices where they did the dirty work of the Globalist Oligarchs. In the U.S. George Soros and his son have funded the elections of anarchists with law degrees who then refuse to prosecute dangerous criminals. The criminals then recognize that they can commit violent crimes without any fear of punishment. This has led to a complete breakdown of social order and created a long trail of crime victims in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis and New York City. Those cities are presently unsafe to visit. Soros and his son should both be incarcerated for these egregious crimes and the damage they have inflicted on innocent, law-abiding citizens.
Executed then tried for ratting out his Jewish neighbors so that he could plunder their valuables once they were safely removed from their homes by the authorities.
Exactly. Where does this playbook come from. Biden, flying the Pride flag at the White House during summer, ranted in a Guy Debord Society of the Spectacle fashion, that the trans community was under attack, with choreography not unlike the Assad clone David Muir, who I couldn't even believe while watching at my mother's, with blue and red swirls and orchestra, announcing on a slow news day "A toddler has been impaled by an umbrella". SF State students then attacked a woman speaking about women's rights in sports, and held her hostage for hours. Lately, it has amped up about "our democracy" with media outlets all speaking in unison about Trump being literal HItler, and requests for donations coming from everywhere. I didn't watch it, but Biden ranted at Valley Forge about just this thing, Valley Forge being a bit of Americana, relating to the Revolutionary War. This playbook doesn't care about whether an analogy is apt or not, false analogies are sprinkled through everything, the way the WEF sprinkles the linguistic clouds of nothingness through everything,( "equity, inclusion"). It is a simulcrum, a complete alternate reality, only here there are two, the freedom alternate reality and the democracy alternate reality. Who wants any of these freaks, spewing scripts, and moved around by an invisible hand on a magnetic chessboard. But this in Germany resonates exactly like the Biden "democracy" thrust. Who disseminates the playbook? BlackRock? Mckinsey?
I think they can't be a normal European nation - they are always so mindful of they past, they keep reenacting bits of it and it informs so many of their decisions, consciously or unconsciously...
that looks a lot like the US. Always reliving the past... except every thing here in the US is carefullly scoured for racism, or genderism, or other deeply important things to destroy "normal"
The US investment in Germany is huge - look at the military bases. I don't think they would keep so many of their assets in a country that wasn't completely aligned with their interests. I've always assumed there is extensive propaganda, or 5th generation warefare going on.
And the politicians know it. I remember when Angela Merkel discovered her cell phone was being bugged by the US: she got really mad for about 5 minutes and then shut up about it. Or when the Nord Stream pipeline was blown up, the German government never questioned anything or even complained to much.
The meeting in November was in the news exactly at the height of the farmer protests (which about 70% of the pop approved at, acc. to surveys) and in the week when Germany changed their citizenship laws to make it easier to basically throw the German passport at everyone who doesn't actively resist it - three days after the news broke, there was play (!) about the meeting. Three days! There should be a new Oscar for speed-directing to honour this effort! The media clung to the same tired tropes ("deportation"/"Wannsee") as one; mass mobilisation took 1-3 days throughout the urban centers of the republic - this is too fast a response for the natural unfolding of a political scandal (which the meeting in Potsdam wasn't). It must have been preplanned and they must have been waiting for right occasion (knowing there was talk of a "general strike" on January 8).
On the other hand, not a single person I've talked to has expressed outrage at the Postdam meeting or eagerness to attend demonstrations "against the right" (not even the "far-right", or "right-wing extremists", or "hard-right"). Not a single person, not in a professional context, not at home, nor friends or aquaintances. As if the Berlin bubble of hyperventilating leftists existed in another country. It's absolutely strange and I wonder whether other German speaking readers had a similar experience these last couple of days.
Do you think the real purpose of the Correctiv piece was to accompany the crazy citizenship reforms? As you say, the meeting happened in 25 November and then they just put it in a drawer someplace, only to pull it out a few weeks ago. It might make sense, migration has become such a sensitive issue, and in his dumb Twitter speech Scholz blends the two themes together: "The Nazis want to deport all of you, but you're a part of Germany, get in line along with the rest of the world for your passport."
No, I don't think they were planning to release it with the new citizenship laws, I think they were mostly wary of the "General strike" idea that had been floated before Christmas and held news of the Potsdam meeting back for just that case. Nobody would have made much of it before Christmas of in the Christmas holidays anyway, so it made more sense to wait until January to get more of an impact, and when the farmer protest became a news item and people supported it, they may have decided to drop the article on the net. That's what I would have done in their place, at least.
Still, it doesn't seem to really hurt AfD in the polls so far, and I don't think they'll be able to ban AfD. So there is no problem solved at all by the pro-government demonstrations, they just gained a little time.
These types of smear campaigns were you label your opponents as some sort of "far right" extremists have been overused and are fast becoming ineffective. Pretty soon the definition of Nazi will be "someone to the right of you politically whom you disagree with". We are almost there. I'm just curious as to what their next tactic will be, as the current one is quickly becoming ineffective.
I agree. You can't call everyone who is not a rabid leftist a "Nazi" and hope not to blunt that particular sword. The logical next step might be political repression, since just smearing people won't work forever.
Smearing people as 'Nazi' or the other smear du jour, 'Racist' invokes the binary brain. Where everything is right or wrong, black or white. But we live in an analogue world where binary divides are only conceptual. As Einstein put it: 'The laws of mathematics, as far as they refer to reality are not certain. And as far as they are certain, do not refer to reality.' The underlying con is to provoke fear, shutting down the rational portion of the brain. It is the lowest form of propaganda. To cue people to stop thinking and be stupid.
Agree. Here in the formerly great white north, any failure to wholeheartedly endorse the fanatically socialist left automatically places one in the "far-right extremist" camp.
And, demographic reality, as seems to be true in so many other formerly other democratic nations, is that only 10% of the population are hard core socialist/totalitarians - (who DO make 80% of the noise). Another 40% are brain dead victims of a half century of relentless leftist propaganda; too lazy to look past the headlines at to see the world as it is, rather than as presented. Then there are the 40% who suffer from terminal complacency. The 'go along to get along crowd'. The ones that offer half hearted support to politicians who campaign right, but, in their usually brief stints in power, always seem to govern left. And finally, the "far-right extremists". The folks who believe that perhaps, maybe, possibly, more regulation, or more government, may NOT be the answer. To everything. Or anything.
These are the people who, sadly, need fear the frozen bank account, loss of livelihood, "de-personning", or even, at the rate we're going, a 3:00AM knock on the door.
Today there where great news ,that greater Vancouver's population has reached three million ,thanks to migration .Without migrants it would be half that . It is time to learn the Whatussy language .
You describe precisely how the left always pretends that everyone agrees with them. The objective is to isolate anyone who disagrees with them as extremists. Even when a majority oppose them.
Anthony Blinken always prefaces his remarks with 'The U.S. together with our allies and our partners...' The con is always that the whole world is with us. It is not. The U.S. always pays small, poor countries to vote for what the U.S. wants at the U.N.
Zelensky tries to use this technique as well. He pretends that the whole world is against Russia and in favor of whatever Ukraine wants. BRICS countries routinely tell him to stuff it. When China or Brasil disagrees with Zelensky, he pouts and insults those heads of state who don't sign onto his scam. The Biden Regime taught him everything he knows.
Now Scholz is offering up the same kind of bullshit. In his desperation of his policies being opposed by nearly 80% of Germans, he tries to make the AfD the bad guys. There is always a segment of the public who will believe that the Psy-Op is real. The state-run media is of course complicit in amplifying any lie that Scholz or the government tells the people.
We live in the age of constant disinformation propagated by our own elected leaders. We need to replace them with people who at least will lie less often than the current set. Everything Scholz, Biden and Von der Leyen tell the people is a carefully crafted deception.
'You describe precisely how the left always pretends that everyone agrees with them. The objective is to isolate anyone who disagrees with them as extremists. Even when a majority oppose them.'
Left wing authoritarianism has infected the very languages we speak. Any Right-wing view is characterized as 'far-Right.' The manipulation is that anything Right-wing is extremist. The Left is practically never referred to as 'far-Left.' This despite the fact that Government, Universities and the media have all become extremist in their Left-wing or Globalist views and policies.
The fact that 'Left' and 'Right' wing have been so miscast in politics to begin with... the original meaning was 'left' favored workers, 'right' favored owners. There was supposed to be a balance between the two.
The modern 'left' is not 'left' in that classical sense. They care fuck all about the workers and the conditions of the actual working stiff. Politics have changed in the last quarter century, but there has been no really new terminology. It is still cast in mid twentieth century jargon that has been distorted to the breaking point.
The whole purpose of the "left-right"-illusion trick is to be a able to create a "good" side which automatically makes the opposing side "evil".
There's no left or right in politics outside media and conditioned perceptions; there are political issues either of practical or principle nature (or both), and that's all.
For Tyr's sake, the whole thing came about because of seating arrangements in parliaments!
If we, we meaning anyone opposing the globalist [insert pejoratives as needed] movement, can stop using the terms, we rob our opponents of the foundation of their semantical Half-Nelson hold on language.
This begins in middle school and as we have seen over lo these strange years, no one ever seems to have graduated.
There was an article yesterday about kids being tormented for having mere knockoffs of the Stanley cup which is our current consumer frenzy and how parents are desperately buying the genuine article so their kids won't be friendless.
I had just finished posting this comment to an earlier article but this article is more to the point. The headline from F24: 250,000 turn out to protest German far right's mass deportation plans. Certainly there are Germans who oppose the AfD. But this looks like a Psychological Operation coming from the failing Scholz partnership with the Greens. German state-run media no doubt will assist Scholz and attempt to turn back the rise in AfD popularity. The Biden Regime uses tactics like this frequently. One important difference is the lack of free speech in Germany. So far, that is the main tactic being used by Scholz's government to harass the AfD and 'weaponize' the legal system against the AfD. Being an election year in the U.S. and Germany, expect all manner of propaganda Psy-Ops in attempts to sway the electorate away from a wipeout of the Globalist elites now in power in both countries. The government is a powerful tool for spreading disinformation. The media in both countries will amplify the massive lies. As they always do now. There is nothing more desperate or dangerous than a Socialist Regime that has run out of other people's money. Every major economic problem that Germany is facing has been entirely Scholz-inflicted.
50000 demonstrate for the government and less than half went on the streets for the farmers and the truckers. What you said is the sad truth: "The government that came to power in 2021, via the votes of a complacent and politically ignorant electorate", and it is no different now. My vaxxed german friends are greatly enraged "AfD bad" and even if they are not very fond of the government , there is not enough emotional power to be enraged at it too. It is depressing to see how gullible and easy to manipulate those people are. Presumably intelligent friends of mine are sending me links to sign a petition to denounce the basic human rights of an (arguably annoying) AfD politician. They don't event think twice and reflect if his human rights are theirs or government's to take.
It's no different from the covid time where the majority of germans were turning on everybody who even asked questions regarding the lockdowns or the vaccines.
I am reminded of the time an event I was organising shared hotel space with Xi.
His goons behaved like they were the Belgian police, but that aside, the real surprise was how the CCP paid a group of enthusiastic citizens to wait outside the hotel and cheer as Their Glorious Leader drove out and in.
These ‘regime friendly’ protests have that same vibe.
That so-called “secret meeting” was a hit job. That’s how these people roll. Merkel/Obama folks try to incentivize people to set up places where they can record and then twist the words of those speaking. It’s partly why Trump only speaks in front of large audiences, so on social media, others can post the context of the words (oftentimes he was being humorous.)
I’m of the opinion that the only way to reach the ill informed normies (which still appears to be many Germans both young and old), is by massive food price hikes. Everything else doesn’t seem to phase them, “oh we aren’t putting on the heating because we are just like everyone else, we are trying to save the environment”, etc. But food prices here in the US has come at the normal American like a wet fish slapping folks repeatedly in the face. I was just staring at $22 organic chicken breasts (there’s only 2 in a package, large breasts, but come on!) when I sourced a local butcher with local meats for much less when I drive a further 15 minutes into the countryside. City people will not have that option. Nope, prices will have to go up and they will have to hit them very very hard, plus some more freezing winters, until these far left shenanigans finally DEI down.
It must have been a hit job, most likely there are undercover "V-Männer" in or close to AfD leadership circles. The article contains a LOT of details; about 90% of those are about the hotel and people that attended though, there's very little about the actual meeting, which shows that it was really quite a difficult job for them to find something they could blow up into a scandal of republic-shattering dimensions.
The headline photos are antifa waving their lame-assed flag in the 'vanguard.' These people are all failed stage actors. It is antifa that ought to be banned.
You surely won't be surprised to hear that in the UK, the BBC have not mentioned the decline of industrial Germany or the anti-government farmers protest at all, but found time on the main evening news last night to hyperventilate about AfD and the far-right ThrEaT tO DeMoCRacY, praising the pro-government rallies.
It is quite depressing to see how far Germany has fallen in such a short span of time.
It is encouraging, though, to see the emergence of common sense rising in opposition. The increasing popularity of AfD and other political parties is a very good sign!
Won’t it be ironic if the East Germans, who were only reunited about 3 decades ago, save Germany from the tyrants? Those in the East know what tyranny is and they want no part of it!.
Derangement is the order of the day. Whenever I run into a frothing-at-the-mouth anti-Trumper, and they scream about misogyny or racism, or what have you, I know we’re not dealing with anyone who actually has a grasp of reality. And if the trend holds across western countries, then the sitting duck governments have to weaponize that insane gullibility as best they can.
Sometimes I am quite hopeful that we’ve woken up enough people to the sheer inept-to-evil that is our current overlords, and sometimes I realize that “awakenings” have consequences, and this may not be very pretty. *sigh*
Sounds exactly like the game plan in America. Change the names and parties. If you object to the Democratic game plan, you are an enemy of the state and a right wing extremist. Democracy must be saved using fascist and communist tactics.
Meanwhile, they declare Trump a Nazi while demanding the Jews be exterminated. And gays and trans supporting Hamas in the name of tolerance have no idea of what Sharia is.
It would all be laughable if not for the power the Dems have to enforce this stupidity.
The oldest universities in the West and in the East were founded by religious entities and they did vigorous sheep-dipping from the start.
But they turned out scholars, not sheep. That's the difference.
They quite often turned out scholars who were sheep. Bruno and Galileo can attest to how hard those sheep can bite.
But they also turned out Bruno and Galileo.
I believe this is a nice example of the fallacy of ignoratio elenchi. Your point is irrelevant to the remark you're responding to. Unless you're claiming that university graduates must always be sheep. Believe me, the character of universities has definitely changed for the worse in the last 50 years or so.
Recollections may disagree.
Back then they stuck to the letter of the law, and now they stick to the spirit of the law... which is chaos from which the new world can be born.
Can't wait, this old one sucks.
The world is the world. New is just old comin' 'round again.
Damn straight Homeo.
Read Excellent Sheep this year and it was illuminating 💡
Good times create weak people. Since 1950, the West has never had it so good in terms of material prosperity, mostly thanks to fossil fuels and technology. If weak people create hard times then only strong people (in the best sense) can bring back the good times.
BINGO! Change some of the specifics in the article like place names, people involved, some minor details, etc. but the bottom line is the same things are going on in Canada, the US, the UK, France, and so on. The narrative everywhere is the same.
It's almost like there's a directed plan or something...
Yes true.... and on that note you might find this an interesting read: https://grahamcunningham.substack.com/p/invasion-of-the-virtue-signallers
It’s humans, not only Germans. Look at Canada. Same story, only faster!
Same in US - Obama & Biden Administrations!
To be sure we're currently in George W. Bush's fifth term.
George W Biden
Barack W. Biden.
It seems to be a certain percentage of White Anglo-Saxons, not just Humans. There are plenty of non-white Humans who are not committing social suicide for feels. Too many in the West have embraced a guilt psychology which has led to mass immigration and the eventual destruction of the West.
That's what's so ironic. Anti-"whiteness" is a distinctly white western concept.

"All is troublesome
in this earthly kingdom,
the turn of events changes
the world under the heavens.
Here money is fleeting,
here friend is fleeting,
here man is fleeting,
here kinsman is fleeting,
all the foundation of this world
turns to waste!
So spake the wise man in his mind,
where he sat apart in counsel.
Good is he who keeps his faith,
And a warrior must never speak
his grief of his breast too quickly,
unless he already knows the remedy -
a hero must act with courage."
Gaéð á wyrd swá hío scel!
The guilt-tripping all got started in post-war Germany. Follow the money.
I have begun to wonder if Anglo-Saxons come in lowest in the bell curve sweepstakes when the measure is degree of common sense.
Remember, the people who try to be nice all the time are the ones most likely to end up as serial killers.
It's the people who pretend to be nice all the time who are plotting their next notch on their belts...
Sociopaths are really good at pretending to be nice but being cruel in the background
Good one!😂
A post-Hitlerian hyper moralism characterised by faux compassion for specific groups of those deemed powerless, weaponised aspirational victimhood, and a scapegoating of the "right" as the source of all evil.
Something like this is buried deep in the essence of the present zeitgeist. But the rubber is meeting the road in material and spiritual ways becoming harder to ignore. As such, it may only be a matter of time before older gods are awakened. And not just in Germany. The Narrative™️ is under pressure across the Rainbow Reich once known as "the West".
Love your language!
The religious traditions and regular contemplation of other than self, is what helps societies.
Iif it is discouraged, it is replaced by another belief system, often belief in government
That is quite German to me too. The way I was raised.
Religion didn't stop the hundred-years war. Or the thirty-years war.
IIRC, it had a great deal to do with those seasons of outrageous cruelty and slaughter.
Religion was an excuse for the insatiable desires of the rulers for more land and power...same for the crusades..
I agree... but.
So many of those wars were on European land between clashing sects. One can blame the leaders, but the populace needs to be held to account. What makes people kill each other over transubstantiation?
They don't, with extremely rare exceptions...Most don't give a hoot about someone else's religion..or even their own in many cases....
Theology just provided the shibboleths which distinguished one group from the other. It was a struggle for power, not the niceties of doctrine.
Sheep dipping indeed.
That's a weirdly strong take on churchbells of all things. Just sayin'.
It's the principle of the thing.
Agreed. We can only keep on keeping on (is that was Planck implied...😉)
Hmm well it was a german guy who helped me to realise that covid was a con.
The exception that proves the rule.
It reminds of the yodelling in country music, which also comes from Germany.
E.g. the yodelling cowboy Gene Autry

Mass demonstration FOR the current government?
To make this into a 100% Soviet farce, the demonstrations should be made a regular occurrence – every 1st of May, 7th of November...
In the USSR, the numbers of demonstration participants were typically ensured by every factory, office or educational establishment dispatching their quota of «demonstrators». In the last years of the regime, this often took caricatural form – for example, offering university students a choice between participating in the 1st of May demonstration or washing windows for a day.
we are experiencing the DDR-ification of politics here. as you say, these kinds of pseudo-democratic rituals were standard for those regimes.
to some extent it's a more explicit version of what's been happening in the States for quite a while now with the capture of so many anti-govt movements via shady non-profits etc.
It even worse here in USA because many of the anti-gov't demonstration are just FBI honeypots. E.g. the leader of the Proud Boys being a protected federal informant.
I call it the "Ray Epps Manuver".
Swedish idiom/proverb, since the 1970s:
"On May Day, the Socialist Democrat-party marches to protest against the consequences of their own rule."
But then, they did have so close ties to Honecker's bunch that the party (allegedly) used M/S Estonia for weapons smuggling to the DDR.
"defend democracy" is the new fascist euphemism to cover their tyranny.
It's the same here in the US.
We are a DINO or a RINO in that case. What kind of "democracy" is it that thinks that we defend it with more government restriction and regulation?
And Biden’s latest tack
The "democracy" they are talking about is the DDR or North Korean version.
NCP?
Laws on how to wipe your arse??? 😳
Well, yes. In properly ruled countries the left hand is mandated.
Because the right hand is dominant and may remain relatively clean for handshakes and food prep?
Yes. Actually food consumption.
There is a lack of water in the desert for hand washing, so this is an easily understood adaptation which has been codified.
Recall the Sharia punishment for thieves.

Agree. Unbelievable the harm the few can unleash on the many. Soros et all are dangerous.
Soros should have been prosecuted in 1946.
Executed then tried for ratting out his Jewish neighbors so that he could plunder their valuables once they were safely removed from their homes by the authorities.
Seed capital.
"Justin Trudeau, Annalena Baerbock and Jacinda Ardern were dogs that were trained by the Klaus Schwab pigs."
How so?
Trudeau has a close association with the WEF, Ardern and Baerbock were Young Global Leaders. They helped, very much so, to carry out the covid fraud.
Also Macron and Boris Johnson. https://colombianherald.com/2022/01/30/hidden-alliance-of-former-wef-young-global-leaders-working-in-lockstep-to-enforce-the-great-reset-include-macron-trudeau-ardern-boris-johnson-the-expose/
And Viktor Orban. Who is the only one so far who went off the reservation.
It's all very weird.
👍
I, for one, strongly favor the restoration of the French monarchy.
Finally! A true "right-wing extremist"!
In B.C. Canada the left is no so dominant ,that even driving on the right will be outlawed .
Well yeah. The people who support the farmers and truckers actually work for a living and don't have time to go be a fluffer for the government.
Stalin-esque—those that stop clapping will be shot
Nice image, the wet fish.
The city-folk will arrive in the country when food gets scarce. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
They will first prey on the other city folk before it dawns on them that the farms are all outside the city limits.
God Bless them!
The AfD are beginning to 'run away' in the polls, with some showing them leading.
