For a few years now I have been totally amazed by the political classes lack of self preservation.
I mean, c'mon, we all know what happens when the plebs are told to shut up and just eat cake for long enough.
I am concerned that not enough people have internalized the consequences of creating an economic and social environment where your average Joe no longer has anything to lose.

What I find most surprising about this is that the Greens introduced a bill favoring small slaughterhouses. I would have thought it more likely they would be pushing a bill requiring veganism.
If the German Green Party is anything like ours (I think they are, because ours was modelled on theirs originally), they are a curious blend of ideas-people:

The left-over pothead hippie-types, to whom it's always 1968.
The Green Communists, Pol Pot-wannabes.
The Green neo-liberals (fans of Thatcherite/Reaganomic financial reforms)
The Green identitarians, pro-migration, pro-islam types
and the Green bourgeoise small-time business-owners seeking protection from corporate capitalist cartels
All of these overlap annd intersect, creating the political equivalent to John Carpenter's The Thing.
You left out the true believer Greenies. The worshipers of Gaia, who, converted by generations of propaganda, brainwashed by the conditioning that sadly passes for education, deeply believe that they are saving the planet.
These unfortunates are the group that are trotted out by any of the above to justify whatever destructive horror they next propose to destroy our world.
That is true. You'd think they'd gone away or killed themselves off from doing their "everything from Nature is Natural and therefore good and safe"-routine, but no such luck.
Embarassing, because there's such a one in the village I live in, but in my defence she is more apolitical than anything. I once came upon her while walking the dogs up on the slopes towards the fens and bogs, and asked what she was looking for (she was hobbling along hunched over).
"Toadstools" she replied, "but I don't know what they look like".
After which a bried chat followed where I inquired why she wanted to find toadstools, and she explained that some homeopathic theosophist she was following on Facebook had given her a recipe for a massage-oil made from toadstool and sundry other ingredients.
I managed to talk her out of it, by explaining that:
a) No two plants/mushrooms have the same concentration of the active substances and so dosage will be guesswork
b) We have several kinds of toadstools, two of which are lethal even in microscopic doses and their poison can penetrate the skin
c) She was at the time breast feeding and the poison could possibly be trasferred via the milk
Currently, she's been raving about carrots being poisonous because they are related to mandrake (the plant, not the magician).
Well to be sure single-ply toilet paper *is* Evil and Fascist.
Anyway this is so enjoyable. First they and their ilk killed Timmy/Horst the whale by scrambing his navigational systems with them vile wind energy farms, and then they and their ilk tortured his final days, so they deserve as much misery as the fates can dump on 'em.
it's only a firewall violation if AfD votes make the majority. So if the majority is so large that the bill would've passed even without AfD support, it's suddenly OK. When the AfD was much smaller, it was easy to avoid these kinds of outcomes, but now they have 1/3 of the seats in the Saxon Landtag.
The Aryans for Dictatorship only voted for easing the burden on local slaughterhouses to make it easier to begin disposing of those evil non-Aryans, nicht so?

Not sure I see the difference (U.S. vs Germany) in today’s missive. The example was based upon the Parliament of Saxony. If my knowledge of political divisions is correct, Saxony is comparable to any of our U.S. State Legislatures—and if you want to ”crazy”, our State of Virginia has just passed a law into effect banning the sale of semiautomatic firearms. (We have a Constitution inclusion allowing such at the Federal level.O
